The Mental Health Association of Columbia-Greene Counties Inc. is looking to fill a full time temporary Warming Center Attendant position. This is a temporary position with the program running from November 1st through May 7th, 2026.

The Warming Center Attendant will be responsible for welcoming guests to the Center, completing needs assessments, connecting with community services and agencies as appropriate, complete required intake paperwork as needed and assigned, complete all required documentation in compliance with funders and agency requirements, and ensure a safe non–judgmental space for the guests.

Position Type: Temporary Full-time/Non-Exempt

Pay Range: $30.00 per hour

Work Location: Hudson, NY 12534 

Shift Schedule: 5 days a week between Sunday-Saturday, shifts available 5:30pm-12:30am and 12:00am-8:30am

Job Duties Include:

  • Follow all agency policy and protocols (Employee Handbook and Warming Center Handbook).
  • Ensure all documentation is completed prior to end of shift.
  • Provide each guest with an orientation to the Warming Center policies and protocols, tour of the Warming Center and complete all necessary documentation and intake paperwork in a welcoming and non–judgmental manner as directed.
  • Attend and participate in daily Guest Meeting lead by the Program Coordinator or Team Leader / Shift Supervisor.
  • Utilize harm reduction strategies to engage individuals in behavioral change to support the Guests with personal goal achievement and foster healthy community independence.
  • Provide health coaching and recovery support, especially on issues of self–advocacy, wellness self–management, medication adherence, smoking cessation, entitlements, and daily living activities.
  • Maintain documentation on guests in electronic health record as assigned by Program Coordinator or Team Leader/Shift Supervisor.
  • Keep Warming Center clean and sanitized, this will require Attendant to complete cleaning tasks, laundry and other tasks required to maintain a clean environment.
  • Ensure the safety regarding physical health, mental health, spiritual health, sexual orientation and gender identity etc. for all guests and other staff.
  • High School Diploma or equivalency required.
  • Intermediate competency in Windows operating environment using MS Office applications, database, e-mail, internet programs and electronic health record platform.
  • Understand cultural family differences and values with the ability to remain non-judgmental.
  • Understand HIPPA privacy laws and adhere to them.
  • Demonstrated competency in written, verbal and computational skills to present and document records in accordance with program standards.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required.
  • Ability and willingness to travel, in some instances with clients in agency vehicles.
  • Ability to work with a diverse population of urban, suburban and rural cultures and with community members from varying socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias.
  • Proficient with online technology systems, including electronic health records.
  • Valid NYS Driver’s License and a clean MVR preferred.
  • Must attend and complete all assigned training and apply learned skills/techniques/interventions.
  • Must be self-motivated.
  • Experience with homelessness/unhoused individuals is preferred.
  • Experience working with adults who are living with mental health and/or substance abuse is preferred.
  • Valid CPR / First Aide Certification preferred.
  • Regular and steady attendance is a requirement for all positions.
