Sounds great – what’s the role in a nutshell?

• The Waiter is responsible for delivering exceptional food and beverage service to guests onboard, ensuring a seamless, attentive, and memorable dining experience. The primary objective of this role is to provide efficient, professional, and personalized service in accordance with Aqua Expeditions' standards, procedures, and service guidelines. The Waiter is expected to create unique and meaningful guest experiences through excellent hospitality, product knowledge, and attention to detail. In addition to core waiter responsibilities, this position may be assigned to support and perform the duties of other Food & Beverage roles, including Bartender as operationally required.

Your passion is:

• Promote environmental initiatives and contribute to maintaining focus and direction in line with the efforts of the Aqua Expeditions team towards environmental conservation and social responsibility.
• Comply with all policies, procedures, and standards established by the Food & Beverage Department.
• Support the achievement of departmental sales targets and participate in revenue-generating activities.
• Maintain comprehensive knowledge of menus, beverages, local fruits, products, and culinary offerings to create exceptional guest experiences.
• Demonstrate sound knowledge of wines and food pairings to provide recommendations to guests.
• Serve guests during breakfast, lunch, dinner, and any designated service activities onboard or ashore, including communities, La Casona, and excursions.
• Remain attentive and available in the dining area to ensure guest satisfaction and service excellence.
• Follow established service etiquette, protocols, operational procedures, and table assignments.
• Perform dining room setup, cleaning, arrangement, and resetting duties according to departmental standards.
• Ensure all meal periods are properly prepared, organized, and maintained.
• Participate in regular inventories as directed by the Food & Beverage Management Team.
• Monitor and minimize product loss and waste while maintaining effective communication with the Kitchen Team.
• Conduct breakage control and reporting as required by the Food & Beverage Department.
• Monitor stock levels and coordinate replenishment requirements with the Warehouse Team to ensure uninterrupted service.
• Apply FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures, monitor expiration dates, and ensure proper labeling and storage of all products.
• Provide coverage and relief support during staff meal breaks as assigned.
• Assist with bar operations during service periods when required.
• Support waiters and service personnel to ensure smooth and efficient service delivery.
• Provide support to supervisors and colleagues during operational contingencies or peak periods.
• Perform additional duties outside the primary scope of the position, when reasonably required by management, in support of vessel and departmental operations.
• Follow all instructions issued by the Captain, Chief Engineer, Cruise Director, and other authorized supervisors.
• Actively participate in guest arrival preparations and ensure all assigned areas are ready to Aqua standards.
• Maintain the highest standards of safety, hygiene, cleanliness, and guest service at all times.
• Contribute to creating memorable guest experiences consistent with Aqua Expeditions' luxury hospitality standards. 

What are we looking for?

• Degree or Diploma in Hospitality Management, Food & Beverage Management, or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar Food & Beverage service position within the hospitality, cruise, or luxury tourism industry.
• Knowledge of Food & Beverage operations, service standards, and food safety and hygiene best practices.
• Good communication in English (required). 
  
• Good communication in French (preferred).
