Your Role

Radio-Canada Estrie is seeking a versatile videojournalist to be based in Granby. Reporting to Associate Managing Editor Émilie Richard, you will gather and present daily news stories that deeply resonate with the Granby-area community. Your stories will appear on the Radio-Canada Info app and across all Radio-Canada platforms. To succeed in this role, you must have a strong knack for both text-based and vertical video storytelling.

We are looking for a creative, resourceful, thorough and highly independent journalist who excels at breaking down complex information for the public. You thrive under pressure, conduct your own research and newsgathering, and confidently package and present your material across multiple platforms.

This position requires a flexible schedule (including irregular hours) and the ability to travel throughout the coverage area in a Radio-Canada vehicle. You will bring fresh perspectives and creative approaches to our newscasts, working independently to deliver original, high-quality journalism. You may be asked to cover stories for our other platforms and will have to work flexible hours, often independently.

This role requires full-time on-site presence.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • Three (3) years’ journalism experience or equivalent.

Skills:

  • Solid reporting skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain a network of contacts.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of CBC/Radio-Canada’s Journalistic Standards and Practices (JSP).
  • Proficiency with Adobe Premiere editing software.
  • Dynamic and engaging on-air presence.
  • Excellent interviewing skills.
  • Ability to write clearly and concisely.
  • Knack for generating original story ideas and creative treatments.
  • Ability to thrive in a high-pressure environment and react quickly to breaking news.
  • Flexibility to contribute regularly to radio programs, national television and digital platforms.
  • High level of creativity, imagination and drive, along with the ability to break down complex information.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong proficiency in French; good command of English is an asset.

Additional Requirements

  • Valid driver’s licence.

Candidates will be tested as follows:

  • Please include a one-minute vertical video with your application explaining why you are the best fit to cover news and current affairs in the Granby area.
  • Journalism assessment (general knowledge, French grammar and writing).
  • Interview.

Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing.

We thank all applicants for their interest, but only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.

As part of our recruitment process, candidates who advance to the next

step will be asked to complete a background check. This includes:

  • A mandatory Criminal record check.

  • Other background checks may be conducted based on the operational requirements of the position.
