Role Overview

Jade Biosciences is seeking an experienced and strategic Vice President, Medical Affairs to build and lead the Company’s medical affairs function as our differentiated pipeline advances through late-stage development and toward commercialization. Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer, this individual will define and execute the medical affairs strategy across Jade’s portfolio, with an initial emphasis on JADE101 in IgA nephropathy. The successful candidate will serve as a scientific and clinical thought partner to internal teams and external stakeholders, translating rigorous target biology and clinical data into compelling medical and scientific engagement.

This is a high-visibility leadership role for a physician (MD) who combines deep therapeutic-area expertise — ideally in nephrology and/or immunology/rheumatology — with a proven track record of building medical affairs capabilities in the biopharmaceutical industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Medical Strategy & Leadership
  • Develop and execute an integrated medical affairs strategy aligned with clinical development and corporate objectives across Jade’s pipeline (JADE101, JADE201, JADE301).
  • Serve as a key scientific partner to the Chief Medical Officer, clinical development, regulatory, and clinical operations.
  • Scientific & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Establish and cultivate relationships with key opinion leaders, investigators, patient advocacy groups, and professional societies in nephrology and immunology/rheumatology.
  • Lead advisory boards, scientific exchange, and congress strategy to inform development and generate insights.
  • Represent Jade externally as a credible medical and scientific voice.
  • Evidence Generation & Communication
  • Direct medical affairs evidence-generation activities, including real-world evidence, investigator-sponsored studies, and publication strategy.
  • Oversee the development of high-quality, scientifically accurate medical communications, publications, and medical information resources.
  • Ensure launch readiness of the medical organization in preparation for JADE101 and subsequent programs.
  • Compliance & Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Ensure all medical affairs activities are conducted in full compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry codes.
  • Partner cross-functionally with clinical operations, regulatory, biometrics, and commercial teams to support integrated program strategy.

Qualifications

Required Experience

  • MD required (board certification and/or relevant post-graduate clinical training strongly preferred).
  • 10+ years of biopharmaceutical industry experience, with progressive leadership responsibility in medical affairs and/or clinical development.
  • Demonstrated success building or leading medical affairs functions, including field medical teams, in a clinical-stage or commercial organization.
  • Proven ability to engage credibly with key opinion leaders, investigators, and external scientific stakeholders.
  • Strong knowledge of the regulatory, compliance, and legal frameworks governing medical affairs activities.
  • Excellent scientific communication, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Preferred Experience

  • Renal (nephrology) experience — e.g., IgA nephropathy or other glomerular diseases — is a strong plus.
  • Immunology / rheumatology experience and familiarity with B-cell– and autoantibody-driven autoimmune diseases is a strong plus.
  • Experience supporting late-stage development and/or product launch in a rare or specialty autoimmune indication.
  • Familiarity with biologics/monoclonal antibody therapeutics and biomarker-driven development.
