Overview
Next 150 Construction, a wholly owned subsidiary of Gilbane Building Company, is seeking a Union Payroll Specialist to support the administration of union and prevailing wage payroll programs. This position plays a key role in ensuring compliance with collective bargaining agreements (CBAs), Davis-Bacon and prevailing wage requirements, certified payroll reporting, union dues processing, and fringe benefit remittances. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with Payroll, Human Resources, Operations, Finance, and union benefit administrators to maintain accurate records, support audits, and ensure timely and compliant payroll operations.

Responsibilities
- Supports union and prevailing wage payroll operations by assisting with union data requests, maintaining accurate records, supporting CBA compliance reviews, and helping with union reconciliation, reporting, and benefit remittance activities
- Supports routine communication with union benefit administrators and trust funds regarding reporting, documentation, and remittance questions.
- Helps gather and provide union-related payroll data when requested.
- Assists with reviewing payroll, benefit, and classification data to support CBA compliance. Identifies routine concerns and escalates potential compliance issues.
- Assists with processing and documenting union dues, assessments, fees, and employer contributions.
- Assists with review of hours, wages, dues, and fringe benefit data.
- Prepares or assists with weekly, monthly and quarterly union fringe benefit reports, trust fund submissions, and dues summaries
- Maintain organized documentation of union agreements, certified payroll reports, and remittance receipts
- Strong numerical accuracy and the ability to interpret complex collective bargaining agreements.
- Research basic discrepancies and escalates complex issues.
- Supports audit activities by gathering documentation, reviewing payroll data, and assisting with validation of CBA compliance, benefit accuracy, and proper classification use.
- Escalates complex union questions, payroll discrepancies, or potential disputes
- Assists with collecting required internal data, forms, and documentation from Leadership, Clients, Legal, Human Resources, Operations, and Finance.
- Partners with the supervisor and team members to support requirements for new initiatives or projects affecting union or prevailing wage payroll operations
- Maintains confidentiality of payroll and employee information
- Contributes to the payroll team by completing related tasks as assigned
Qualifications
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- 3+ years of relevant experience
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong understanding of collective bargaining agreements (CBAs), prevailing wage rules, and certified payroll (Davis-Bacon Act)

Salary to be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience of the applicant, as well as the internal equity and alignment with the team.
For Upstate NY the pay ranges from $49,500-$69,500 plus benefits and retirement program.
For Providence, RI the pay ranges from $52,000-$72,000 plus benefits and retirement program.
For Boston, MA and Arlington, VA the pay ranges from $57,500-$81,500 plus benefits and retirement program.
For New York, NY and San Jose, CA the pay ranges from $63,000-$89,000 plus benefits and retirement program.
