About this role

Overview

We are seeking an individual with 4-5 years’ experience as a commercial multi-line renewal underwriter.  The role is dedicated to managing, evaluating, pricing, and retaining existing accounts while maintaining favorable risk exposure and portfolio profitability.  Handling accounts ranging from small to middle market risks and working within defined letters of authority. You will act as primary point of contact for external agency partners and brokers, using data-driven insights to negotiate renewals and ensure long term premium retention.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Risk Evaluation and Retention: Analyze, assess, and re-underwrite a defined portfolio of Commercial Lines renewal business. Evaluate business risk factors, claims history, financial stability, and loss potential to execute sound retention strategies.

Pricing & Optimization: Formulate accurate pricing strategies and premium adjustments based on segment targets, exposure changes, and current market conditions. Issue renewal quotes and structured proposal packages within strict company service windows.

Portfolio Analytics: Review and interpret detailed Agency Analysis Reports. Identify profitability trends, shifts in book composition, and substandard metrics within assigned agency accounts to mitigate long-term losses.

Broker & Agency Relationship Management: Collaborate closely with designated production underwriters, field representatives, and independent agents. Negotiate policy terms, clear up underwriting exceptions, and market alternative company products.

Policy Servicing & Compliance: Oversee the accurate execution of complex renewal processing instructions, policy endorsements, conditional renewals, or legal cancellations. Ensure absolute adherence to statutory laws, corporate guidelines, and internal compliance checklists.

Authority Alignment: Manage risks effectively within designated authority thresholds. Properly structure and escalate accounts exceeding limits to senior management or portfolio specialist teams.
