Job Description:

This is professional services work in providing comprehensive transportation planning, research, evaluation, policy development, and oversight services in the Public Transportation Unit within the Maine Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Planning.  Responsibilities include project and program management, grant management, policy development, financial management, and long-range planning related to public transit in Maine.  Supervision will be exercised over professional and technical personnel within the Bureau of Planning.  This classification is distinguished from the next lower level by its responsibility for being the Department’s key point of contact to various large and multifaceted regional, state, and federal entities and providing technical assistance and support as necessary, and by its responsibility for coordinating highly specialized planning activities in the public transportation and multimodal planning fields. Experience or familiarity with federal grant management and reporting, transit operations, financial management, state and federal regulations, and procurement policies and practices is preferred but not required.

To be minimally qualified for this position candidates must provide evidence of the following experience:

An eight (8) year combination of education, training, and/or experience in planning and program development with specific background in specialized field as necessary (i.e. environmental planning, economic planning, historic preservation, etc.).
