Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Management or Engineering, a related specialized area or field is required, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience, plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.

 

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position

 

In this Technical Manager role you will be joining the M&SS Systems Specialties Engineering team. The team is made up of four primary functional areas, Fleet Documentation, Configuration Management, Integrated Logistics Support, and Lab Administration. The Systems Specialties team supports all business areas across M&SS and looks for creative solutions to our Nation's most difficult DOD engineering problems in conjunction with the other M&SS Engineering disciplines. Below are the representative duties for the role.

This technical manager role will specifically be managing the Trainer Documentation Development and curricula Development teams. The Trainer Documentation group supports the generation, authoring, and editing of Strategic Program procedures and documentation for training systems, as well as procedures for Nuclear Weapons Security and Surface programs. The Curricula team supports the generation, authoring, and delivery of training to customers for Strategic System platforms.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure design interface between engineering and other disciplines is maintained throughout the program life-cycle to embed supportability into the program/product.
  • Manage the coordination of activities of a section or department with responsibility for results, including costs, methods, and staffing, potentially without any subordinate employees.
  • Supervise your staff.
  • Hire employees to support the business workload demands.
  • Participate in the development of program and teaming strategies as they relate to assigned tasks.
  • Coordinate inputs from technical experts to craft technical input for proposals.
  • Lead discussions across engineering domains to assess impacts on requirements from proposed changes.
  • Identify technical and organizational risks, ensuring they are included in the risk management database, and create mitigation plans.
  • Assess risks from other functional areas for impacts on the program.
  • Mentor and develop employees.
  • Collaborate with other Managers and Program Managers to define and review team material and products.
  • Understand and support schedule and budgets management through the use of Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS)
  • Direct workflow to meet program and customer delivery requirements.
  • Develop technical and cost inputs to proposals.
  • Regularly communicate with project customers, project teams, and internal management including but not limited to local Navy Program Management Office (PMO).
  • Travel may be required.
  • Direct those involved in the design, modification, and evaluation of all phases of a specific product or group of products.
  • Promote the use of new technologies and industry-leading trends.
  • Follow processes and operational policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
  • Develop and administer schedules and performance requirements; may have budget responsibilities.

Salary Note

This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary. This job posting will remain open until the position is filled.

Combined Salary Range

USD $142,696.00 - USD $154,401.00 /Yr.
