Tower Lead
About this role
Job Summary
We are seeking an industry-leading Subject Matter Expert (SME) – Electrical Power Systems Design to serve as the ultimate authority on power topology, electrical architecture, and high-density distribution for our next-generation AI data center portfolio.
You will define the global electrical standards, lead short-circuit and harmonic studies, evaluate medium/low voltage topologies, and design fault-tolerant power paths. This role is responsible for ensuring our power infrastructure reliably delivers continuous, ultra-high-density power to support 100 kW to 150 kW+ per rack GPU clusters while maintaining maximum energy efficiency and system availability.
Key Responsibilities
1. High-Density Power Architecture & Innovation
Ultra-High Density Distribution: Architect and standardize power delivery models from grid connection down to the rack—including high-amperage busways, power distribution units (PDUs), and whip routing for 100 kW to 150 kW+ per rack GPU deployments (e.g., NVIDIA H100/B200/GB200 architectures).
UPS & Energy Storage Topology: Design next-generation uninterruptible power supply (UPS) configurations (distributed, block redundant, or static transfer switch topologies) utilizing lithium-ion, BESS, or flywheel energy storage systems.
Medium/Low Voltage Substation Design: Establish specifications for high-voltage grid substations, MV/LV transformers, switchgear, automatic transfer switches (ATS), and localized backup generator plants (diesel/gas/hydrogen).
2. System Modeling, Reliability & Compliance
Electrical Power Studies: Lead detailed power system modeling, including short-circuit analysis, arc flash hazard assessments, selective coordination, dynamic load flow, and harmonic distortion mitigation.
Concurrent Maintainability: Ensure all power designs comply with Tier III/Tier IV continuous availability standards, enabling maintenance on any electrical component without taking AI workloads offline.
Code & Efficiency Compliance: Enforce compliance with IEEE, IEC, NEC, and local utility regulations while optimizing electrical PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness) and power factor correction.
3. Peer Review, OEM Benchmarking & Operational Escalation
Design Validation & Auditing: Conduct deep-dive technical reviews of electrical drawings, single-line diagrams (SLDs), and equipment specifications produced by third-party MEP design consultants.
Vendor Benchmarking & R&D: Direct technical relationships with top-tier electrical OEMs (Schneider, Eaton, Vertiv, Siemens, ABB) to customize high-density power equipment and evaluate emerging solid-state power components.
Root-Cause Failure Analysis: Act as the primary technical authority for investigating electrical faults, breaker trips, power quality anomalies, or UPS transfer failures during commissioning or live operations.
