About this role

Position Summary

The Tire Technician is responsible for safely and accurately mounting and balancing tires and wheels in accordance with SWAG specifications and quality standards. This position plays an important role in ensuring finished tire and wheel assemblies meet established safety, quality, and production requirements.

The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, safety-focused, dependable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced warehouse environment.

What You'll Do

  • Mount and balance new tires and wheels according to manufacturer and company specifications.
  • Safely operate tire mounting, balancing, and related shop equipment.
  • Inspect tires, wheels, valve stems, and completed assemblies for proper installation, condition, and quality.
  • Verify completed work meets established quality and safety standards before release.
  • Maintain appropriate tire and wheel inventory at the workstation to support production requirements.
  • Move, lift, stage, and position tires and wheels safely and efficiently.
  • Break down boxes, packaging, and other materials and maintain an organized work area.
  • Keep workstation clean, organized, and properly stocked with required tools and supplies.
  • Follow all established safety procedures, including proper lifting techniques and required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Immediately report damaged products, equipment concerns, safety hazards, or quality issues to management.
  • Meet established productivity and quality expectations.
  • Assist with inventory, shipping, receiving, warehouse, or other operational functions as business needs require.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Previous tire mounting and balancing experience preferred.
  • Experience operating tire mounting and wheel-balancing equipment preferred.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to safely use hand and shop tools.
  • Knowledge of tires, wheels, proper inflation, and basic tire service procedures.
  • Ability to identify tire, wheel, and installation quality issues.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Dependable attendance and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Previous experience in a tire shop, automotive, dealership, warehouse, or distribution environment is a plus.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to regularly lift, move, position, and handle tires and wheel assemblies.
  • Ability to stand and work on your feet for extended periods.
  • Ability to frequently bend, reach, push, pull, squat, and perform repetitive movements.
  • Ability to safely operate tire service equipment and other tools required for the position.
  • Ability to work in a warehouse environment with exposure to typical equipment noise and varying activity levels.

The physical requirements described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.

  • Ability to regularly stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
  • Ability to frequently bend, stoop, squat, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive movements.
  • Ability to regularly lift and move tires, wheels, and related materials weighing up to 50 pounds independently, with heavier items requiring team assistance or appropriate material-handling equipment.
  • Ability to safely operate tire mounting, balancing, and other equipment required for the position.
  • Ability to work in a warehouse environment where noise levels and temperatures may vary.
  • Ability to perform work requiring manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and attention to detail.
