About the team

This role sits within the Affiliates pillar of the Financial Crime, Compliance and Risk Oversight (FinCRO) organization, reporting to the Asia-Pacific Affiliates Lead. As the named Regulatory Compliance and Money Laundering Reporting Officer (RC and MLRO) for Stripe Thailand, you'll serve as the principal decision-maker and strategic lead on regulatory compliance and financial crime risk management, playing a critical role in ensuring continued safe growth in Thailand.

You'll engage directly with local regulators, financial partners, and internal stakeholders to shape the future of fintech oversight and ensure compliance by design across product development.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a regulatory compliance strategy for Thailand that aligns with global FinCRO objectives, leverages AI, data science, and automation, and includes regular reporting to the Stripe Thailand Board of Directors on the health and effectiveness of compliance programs
  • Own and enhance Stripe Thailand's compliance programs as the RC and MLRO, ensuring the financial crime program prevents, detects, and reports money laundering, terrorist financing, and other financial crimes
  • Proactively engage with local regulators to shape fintech oversight, advocate for technology-enabled compliance solutions, and serve as the primary point of contact for regulators in Thailand
  • Represent Stripe in external forums and industry groups to help modernize regulatory expectations for the fintech era
  • Build and maintain relationships with key financial partners, including banks, payment networks, and third-party providers, serving as the senior point of contact for escalations
  • Provide expert compliance guidance to stakeholders on product development, fostering compliance by design
  • Act as the Resident Director for the Thailand entity, meeting all the legal governance requirements and fulfilling necessary fiduciary responsibilities.

Who you are

We're looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

  • 10+ years of experience in financial crime, with a focus on financial services, fintech, or payments
  • Deep knowledge of financial crimes and financial services laws and regulations in Thailand
  • High professional fluency in Thai and English

Preferred qualifications

  • CAMS certification or other relevant professional certifications as required by Thai regulators
  • Experience working in a global, matrixed organization
