About this role
- Will tend three 7000 H.P, 150 PSI natural gas/diesel fired Scotch Marine Boiler at the Medical centre by following the instructions mentioned in the operational manuals and standard department policies and procedures.
- Performs boiler feed water chemical analysis and adds appropriate chemicals to ensure boiler protection.
- Responsible for standing shift on 24 hr rotating schedule within the energy plant control room containing the building environment control, energy management, alarm and fire control systems, referred to generally as the Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems.
- Will tend building systems, such as boilers and steam generation system, through the use of the DDC consoles which use micro-processor technology to control the systems within the building.
- Performs a wide variety of preventive maintenance as required within the Standard Operating Procedures of the Maintenance Services.
- Independently performs routine tasks such as freeing clogging sink drains, repairing water lines and leaks, and secondary minor repairs on wheelchairs, beds, litters, dental chairs, addressographs, etc.
- Monitors and repairs empty oxygen and nitrous oxide tanks.
- Determines needs and associated requirements for boiler/steam system parts and supplies; followed by initiation of procurement and maintaining adequate stock levels.
