Technical Director - Building Services - Sport BU (SPO-078)

The Technical Director – MEP/Building Services will lead the technical planning, design, and execution of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems, utilities, and infrastructure within Qiddiya's sports assets. This leadership role requires extensive experience in MEP/Building Services engineering and infrastructure management, ensuring the delivery of world-class, efficient, and sustainable systems that support the operational needs of the sport venues and the wider business unit's objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and oversight for all MEP/Building Services, utilities, and infrastructure design and implementation across sports projects, including stadia, arenas, athlete facilities, and supporting venue infrastructure.
• Develop and enforce MEP/Building Services and utilities design standards, guidelines, and best practices, ensuring full compliance with local (Saudi Building Code) and international codes and regulations (ASHRAE, NFPA, IEC, and relevant sports federation technical standards).
• Coordinate closely with architects, structural engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure integrated, clash-free, and efficient MEP/Building Services system designs across all disciplines.
• Manage MEP/Building Services contractor and supplier performance to ensure high-quality installation, testing, and commissioning of infrastructure systems.
• Lead risk assessments, feasibility studies, and value engineering exercises on MEP/Building Services systems to optimize design performance, resilience, and whole-life cost efficiency.
• Monitor MEP/Building Services project progress, troubleshoot technical challenges on site, and ensure timely delivery within budget across design, procurement, and construction phases.
• Promote sustainable design and energy-efficient MEP/Building Services solutions – including HVAC optimization, renewable integration, and water management – aligned with Qiddiya's environmental and sustainability objectives.
• Prepare and review technical reports, MEP/Building Services tender documents, and contract packages, ensuring specifications are accurate, complete, and commercially sound.
• Mentor and develop MEP/Building Services engineering teams, fostering technical excellence, knowledge-sharing, and succession planning.
• Collaborate with business unit leadership to align MEP/Building Services and infrastructure strategy with Qiddiya's overall giga-project delivery goals.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum of 12 years of relevant experience in MEP, utilities, and infrastructure design and management, preferably within large-scale sports or entertainment projects.
• Proven track record in managing multidisciplinary engineering teams and delivering complex infrastructure projects.
• In-depth knowledge of local and international engineering codes, standards, and regulations.
• Strong project management skills, including scheduling, budgeting, and stakeholder management.
• Experience with sustainable engineering practices and innovative technologies.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively.
• Familiarity with relevant design and analysis software tools.
