About the Role
We’koqma’q First Nation is seeking dedicated and caring Teacher’s Assistants to support classroom teachers in delivering high-quality, culturally responsive education. This role plays an important part in creating a positive learning environment and supporting student success.
The Teacher’s Assistant provides instructional support, assists with classroom management, and works directly with students to enhance their learning experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist teachers in preparing lesson materials and classroom activities
- Support individual students and small groups with learning activities
- Help maintain a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers
- Assist with classroom administrative tasks such as grading and record-keeping
- Supervise students during recess, lunch, and other school activities
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to support educational programming
- Participate in professional development opportunities
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in education or related field is preferred
- Experience working with children in an educational setting is an asset
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and students

Working Conditions
- Primarily classroom-based environment
- Occasional outdoor supervision and school activities
- Standard school hours, with occasional after-school meetings or events
- Physical activity may include standing for extended periods and assisting with student needs
- Minimal travel required, primarily for school-related events within the community
