Systems Engineer

The Opportunity:

Join us on a fast paced, high-energy journey as we decompose legacy systems into a single platform in support of some of our nation’s most important missions. In this role, you’ll apply your skills to both the legacy systems and the new platform. You will be responsible for building scalable, high-quality applications and participating in the full software development lifecycle as part of a SAFe Agile team. You will supervise, coordinate or perform additions and changes to network hardware and operating systems, and attached devices, including investigation, analysis, recommendation, configuration, installation, and testing of new network hardware and software. Provide direct support in the day-to-day operations on network hardware and operating systems including the evaluation of system utilization, monitoring response time and primary support for detection and correction of operational problems. Troubleshoot at the physical level of the network, working with network measurement hardware and software, as well as physical checking and testing of hardware devices at the logical level working with communication protocols. Participate in planning design, technical review and implementation for new network infrastructure hardware and network operating systems for voice and data communication networks. Perform systems management and integration functions. Exhibiting proficiency with virtualization technologies and network administration.  Maintain network infrastructure standards including network communication protocols such as TCP/IP. Provide technical consultation, training and support to IT staff as designated by the government. Diagnose and resolve complex communication problems. Perform systems management and integration functions. Responsible for design, deployment, evaluating, testing, certification, patching, addressing interoperability issues, not only of the base storage and backup system, but for all features, components, and application dependencies. Ensures systems are current with approved patches and assists with certification and system accreditation tasks, composes SOPs, and Quick Reference guides for users.

You Have:

  • 8+ years of experience in engineering roles

  • Experience with IT system engineering 

  • Knowledge of system integration

  • Top Secret clearance

  • HS diploma or GED

Nice If You Have:  

  • Experience with scripting for configuration automation, including Python, Bash, or Perl 

  • Experience with containerization, including Kubernetes 

  • Experience in full lifecycle software sustainment and support

  • SAFe Agile Software Engineer (ASE) Certification

Clearance:  

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; Top Secret clearance is required.

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $86,800.00 to $198,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
