Supply Chain Manager – Europe

Location: Ireland-based with regular European travel
Reporting to: Commercial Director
Employment Type: Full-time | Hybrid

The Role

Crown is looking for an experienced and commercially minded Supply Chain Manager to support the development and optimisation of our European supply chain.

As Crown continues to grow across Ireland, the UK and mainland Europe, this role will play a key part in supporting our expanding portfolio of large-scale, mission-critical projects. You will focus on identifying, developing and strengthening relationships with local suppliers, manufacturers and labour-only subcontractors across our European markets.

This is a hands-on and relationship-focused role. You will travel regularly throughout Europe, meeting potential supply-chain partners, visiting projects and assessing their capability, capacity, quality and suitability to support Crown's current and future requirements.

Working closely with teams across Commercial, Estimating, Operations and Project Delivery, you will help build the strong, reliable and resilient supply-chain networks needed to support Crown's continued growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, assess and develop local suppliers, manufacturers and labour-only subcontractors across Crown's European markets.
  • Visit and inspect potential supply-chain partners and their current or completed projects to assess capability, workmanship, quality standards and suitability.
  • Build and strengthen in-country supply-chain networks to support current and future projects.
  • Develop and maintain strong, long-term relationships with suppliers and labour-only subcontractors across Europe.
  • Work closely with Commercial, Estimating, Operations and Project teams to anticipate project, labour and procurement requirements.
  • Collaborate with Compliance, HR, Health & Safety and Sustainability teams to support the appropriate assessment and onboarding of new supply-chain partners.
  • Monitor supplier and subcontractor capability, capacity, quality, reliability and overall performance.
  • Provide market intelligence on supplier capacity, pricing, lead times and emerging supply-chain risks.
  • Identify opportunities to improve supply-chain resilience, efficiency, value and security of supply.
  • Support Crown's sustainability objectives through increased local sourcing and improved supply-chain visibility.
  • Maintain an understanding of evolving European sustainability and carbon requirements relevant to the supply chain.
  • Proactively identify supply-chain risks and opportunities and support the continuous improvement of Crown's European supply-chain capability.

About You

We are looking for someone with a strong understanding of the construction industry and the practical requirements involved in delivering major construction projects.

You may come from a background in construction project delivery, procurement, commercial management, subcontractor management or supply chain. You will have strong commercial judgement and be confident assessing potential suppliers and subcontractors, building relationships and making informed decisions about their suitability.

This role could particularly suit an experienced Construction Project Manager, Contracts Manager or commercially focused construction professional looking to move into a strategic supply-chain role with significant European exposure.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Strong experience within the construction industry.
  • Previous experience in project delivery, procurement, commercial management, supply chain, subcontractor management or a similar role.
  • A strong understanding of supplier and subcontractor capability, capacity and suitability.
  • Confidence visiting sites and assessing the quality and standard of ongoing or completed work.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness, judgement and a proactive, solutions-focused approach.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments and manage a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Fluent written and spoken English.
  • A full driving licence.
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly throughout Europe.

Additional European language skills would be a distinct advantage, and multilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

A relevant third-level qualification in Construction, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Supply Chain, Procurement or a related discipline would be desirable but is not essential. We are equally interested in candidates who have gained strong, relevant experience within the construction industry.
