Job Summary

The Supervisor - Aviation Safety Compliance supports the Safety Division by ensuring compliance with federal and local regulations. Develops and directs the technical and administrative activities of a comprehensive safety program to ensure compliance for the City of Dallas Airport System.

Overview

The Supervisor - Aviation Safety Compliance supports the Safety Division by ensuring compliance with federal and local regulations. Develops and directs the technical and administrative activities of a comprehensive safety program to ensure compliance for the City of Dallas Airport System.

Essential Functions:

1 Reviews, evaluates, manages, coordinates, trains, and evaluates safety staff and job assignments; directs and coordinates the technical and administrative activities of the Aviation Safety Programs for Dallas Airport System.

2 Assists Department of Aviation divisions in resolving health and safety problems; trains and educates personnel in using protective equipment and facilitating compliance with safety regulations and standards; advises and consults with representatives of the airport, management, labor and professional groups on the organization and operation of aviation safety programs and compliance.

3 Evaluates, reviews, and processes scientific and statistical data, interprets results and prepares various reports; plans and administers safety program, assists with budget and consults with local, state, and federal agencies concerning regulatory guidelines, safety initiatives, resources allocations, and standard compliance.

4 Remains current on all guidelines, research, and regulatory changes to safety protocols, programs, and initiatives; monitors airport's implementation of adjusted regulations and facilitates compliance and training.

5 Ensures and monitors proper response to compliance and safety issues in both airside and landside operations; provides skill, knowledge, and understanding of regulations to resolve issues, noncompliance, and necessary adjustments to regulatory standards.

6 Attends and participates in meetings, conferences, and other exchanges of communication to ensure airport compliance with safety standards.

7 Supervises, directs, guides, and leads staff performing various safety management system responsibilities.

8 Conducts employee reviews and participates in all hiring and training of new personnel.

9 Develops and analyzes safety reports and reviews concerns to ensure the correct routing of all information.

10 Communicates with internal and external agencies to support and supervise activities.

11 Assists and provides direction, leadership, and oversight for any safety related concerns for the Dallas Airport System facilities.

12 Performs any and all other work as needed or assigned.

Knowledge and Skills

1 Knowledge of claims processes, procedures, and technology.

2 Knowledge of City policies and procedures.

3 Ability to develop administrative, technical, and investigative skills.

4 Ability to prepare clear and concise reports.

5 Ability to deal courteously and effectively with the public in all situations.

6 Ability to supervise, lead, direct, and guide personnel handling claims.

7 Ability to provide investigative services and give testimony when needed.

8 Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

9 Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, or related field.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Five (5) years of experience in Safety (Occupational Health, System Safety, Industrial Safety, Risk Assessment and/or Loss Prevention) OR Airport/Airfield Operations or Management.

AND

  • Two (2) years of experience in a lead work/supervisory capacity (This experience may be concurrent with the above).

EQUIVALENCIES:

  • High school diploma or GED plus nine (9) years of the required experience plus two (2) years of lead work or supervisory responsibilities will meet the education and experience requirements. 

  • Associate degree in any field plus seven (7) years of the required experience plus two (2) years of lead work or supervisory responsibilities will meet the education and experience requirements.

  •  Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in a non-specified field plus seven (7) years of the required experience plus two (2) years of lead work or supervisory responsibilities will meet the education and experience requirements.

  • Master’s degree in a related field plus three (3) year of the required experience plus two (2) years of lead work or supervisory responsibilities will meet the education and experience requirements.

LICENSE and CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record.

  • Must be able to complete Airport Movement Area certification within probationary period

  • National Incident Management System (NIMS) 100, 200, 300, 400, 700 & 800 certification or ability to obtain within one (1) year of appointment.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: 

  •  Must pass TSA background check.    

  •  Subject to 24/7 on-call, including weekends and holidays.      



Salary Range

 

$62,379.20 - $76,585.60
