About this role

About Blumen

Blumen is rebuilding how America builds infrastructure.

There's over $2 trillion in infrastructure projects stuck in regulatory purgatory across the US right now. Every power plant, transmission line, data center, and pipeline faces the same reality: navigating thousands of federal, state, and local regulations through broken government websites, expensive services that miss critical requirements, and bespoke tools that only work in one state.

We've built the AI platform that aggregates 1,500+ geospatial data layers and regulatory intelligence to generate expert-grade permitting, siting, and regulatory compliance insights in hours instead of weeks. We're working with publicly traded energy companies and the developers building the infrastructure backbone of America's energy transition.

The Opportunity

We're looking for an experienced environmental professional to own our relationships with major clients.

You've spent years on delineations, siting studies, permit conditions, and agency coordination. You've presented findings that were challenged, and you know which conclusions hold up under scrutiny. You want that expertise to have wider effect than one project at a time.

At Blumen, our work reaches our client's environmental and planning teams through you and the questions, corrections, and concerns that come back with them. You'll be the person who can answer those questions credibly, identify when we've made an error, and make sure it gets corrected.

The account grows when the client trusts both the quality of the work and the person delivering it. That is the primary path to expansion in this role.

What You'll Do

  • Own client relationships, the quality of what we deliver, and the direction of the account

  • Review deliverables before they reach the client, and support them afterward

  • Respond to technical questions and objections from the client's environmental and planning staff, and resolve each one

  • Relay what you learn in the field to product and engineering to improve subsequent deliverables

  • Maintain a current record of account status, open items, and expansion opportunities

  • Represent Blumen in technical discussions and at industry events

You'll Likely Have

  • 5+ years of environmental permitting, siting, or planning work at a consulting firm, developer, or infrastructure owner

  • Demonstrated depth in at least one area: wetland and waterbody delineation, threatened and endangered species, NEPA, siting, or permit condition compliance; and working knowledge of the others

  • Experience presenting and defending technical findings to clients and regulatory agencies

  • Clients who have requested you by name on subsequent work

  • The ability to manage a high volume of concurrent open items without losing track of them

  • Interest in how technology and AI are changing environmental work, and the ability to explain to a skeptical scientist how a given conclusion was reached

You Thrive When

  • You are the first person a client contacts when something looks wrong

  • You verify a challenged finding before defending it

  • You identify the recurring issue behind a series of individual questions and address the cause

  • You work directly with founders and have influence over decisions

  • You take ownership without waiting for direction

Bonus

  • Existing relationships at utilities, renewable developers, or infrastructure owners

  • Experience across multiple states or regulatory regimes

  • Experience as a technical reviewer or QA/QC lead

  • Experience growing an account through delivery quality

Our values

  1. Put yourself in the customer’s shoes. We care deeply about serving our customers above all else.

  2. No job is too small. Details matter, even if nobody will ever see them.

  3. Every problem is an opportunity. Any solution that is clever, difficult to reproduce, or takes serious guts is an opportunity to widen our moat.

  4. To go far, go together. We trust, respect, win, and lose together, as a team.

  5. Own the problem. Not your solution. Best idea wins.

  6. It doesn’t get easier. We just get faster. There is no finish line. Every day is a step toward compounding success. This is a marathon toward excellence.
