About this role

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide holistic nursing care to patients in accordance with hospital policies and established nursing standards.
  • Assess patients' health conditions, identify nursing-care needs, and develop and implement appropriate nursing interventions.
  • Monitor and document vital signs, clinical observations, intake/output, and changes in patient condition.
  • Administer medications, IV fluids, injections, blood products, and other treatments as prescribed and within the scope of practice.
  • Verify medication orders and follow the rights of medication administration and applicable safety protocols.
  • Assist doctors and other healthcare professionals during examinations, procedures, treatments, and emergencies.
  • Ensure timely implementation of doctors' orders and communicate significant clinical changes promptly.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential patient records, nursing notes, medication charts, and other clinical documentation.
  • Provide appropriate nursing care to patients before and after procedures and surgeries.
  • Follow infection prevention and control practices, including hand hygiene, PPE use, isolation precautions, and biomedical-waste management.
  • Ensure patient safety by identifying and reducing risks such as falls, pressure injuries, medication errors, and hospital-acquired infections.
  • Educate patients and their attendants regarding treatment, medication, diet, hygiene, follow-up care, and discharge instructions.
  • Provide emotional support and maintain patient dignity, privacy, and confidentiality.
  • Handle emergency situations effectively and provide immediate nursing interventions within professional scope.
  • Ensure proper use, availability, cleaning, and maintenance of medical equipment and nursing supplies.
  • Conduct and participate in effective shift handovers, ensuring continuity of patient care.
  • Coordinate with laboratory, pharmacy, radiology, physiotherapy, dietary, and other support services as required.
  • Report adverse events, medication errors, patient-safety incidents, and other clinical concerns through the appropriate channels.
  • Participate in clinical audits, quality-improvement initiatives, staff training, and continuing professional development programs.
  • Mentor and guide junior nursing staff and support nursing students/trainees where applicable.
  • Maintain professional conduct and comply with hospital policies, nursing ethics, and applicable regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • B.Sc. Nursing / Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing / GNM from a recognized institution.
  • Valid registration with the applicable State Nursing Council / Nursing Registration Authority.
  • Current BLS certification is preferred.
  • Additional specialty certifications may be required for ICU, OT, Emergency, NICU, or other specialized departments.

Experience

  • Freshers may be considered based on organizational requirements.
  • Relevant hospital or clinical experience is preferred.
  • Experience in a specialized clinical area will be an advantage for specialty positions.
