Staff Engineer
About this role
As a Staff Engineer, you will be responsible for driving end-to-end system integration, feature validation, and release readiness for Wireless RAN products. You will lead complex integration activities, provide technical leadership within the team, collaborate with development and verification teams, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality feature and maintenance releases. The role requires deep expertise in wireless systems, strong debugging skills, and ownership of cross-functional technical execution.
- Own system integration and validation activities for 4G/5G RAN products and solutions.
- Lead integration of Firmware (FW), FPGA, Layer 1, Layer 2, Layer 3, and OAM components to enable Integrated SW build for required feature bring-up and product verification.
- Review product requirements and derive integration and validation scope for feature and maintenance releases.
- Perform end-to-end testing of features: LTE and NR features including Carrier Aggregation, MIMO, VoLTE, EN-DC, and mobility scenarios, etc.
- Analyze protocol logs, KPI data, and system traces to identify and resolve defects.
- Work closely with development, architecture, product management, and customer support teams for issue resolution and feature acceptance.
- Define SIT test strategies, test plans, and validation methodologies for new product releases.
- Lead root cause analysis and provide technical guidance for complex integration issues.
- Contribute to test automation, continuous integration, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Support customer trials, field testing, and production deployment activities.
- Drive continuous improvement in system integration processes, tools, and development infrastructure.
Mandatory Skills:
- Working in 4G/5G eNB/gNB product with strong involvement in integrating L1,L2,L3 & OAM components as a SIT feature/maintenance release.
- Strong understanding of RAN architecture and LTE/NR Layer 1, Layer 2, and Layer 3 protocols.
- Hands-on experience in system integration, feature validation, and troubleshooting.
- Strong Knowledge in LTE/NR call flows, mobility procedures, and performance optimization.
- Experience with FAPI-based integrations, front-haul debugging, and O-RAN interfaces.
- Experience with protocol analyzers, network tracing, and log analysis tools.
- Strong expertise in debugging system-level DL and UL timing issues across DU, RU, and UE interfaces, including synchronization, scheduling, HARQ timing, frame alignment, latency analysis, and front-haul timing-related anomalies.
- Hands-on experience in analyzing and resolving LTE/5G NR timing issues using protocol logs, FAPI traces, Layer 1 logs, OTA captures, and O-RAN/eCPRI front-haul diagnostics.
- Strong Linux knowledge and scripting skills in Python & Shell
- Excellent debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Desired Skills:
- Hands-on experience with UE simulators such as TM500, Keysight, or equivalent test platforms.
- Good understanding of Core Network configuration and integration for LTE/5G testing.
- Exposure to O-RAN architecture and multi-vendor interoperability testing with CU/DU.
- Experience in CI/CD, build integration, test automation, and continuous validation frameworks.
- Experience: 11 to 14 yrs+ years of experience in Wireless Communications, LTE, and 5G NR technologies
- Education: B.Tech/BE (CSE/ECE) or any other equivalent degree
