About this role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical General Ledger Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have strong general accounting experience, advanced Excel skills, and proficiency in ADP, QuickBooks and ERP systems. This position plays a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting the month-end close process, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies.

A 90-day performance review will be conducted to ensure job expectations and performance requirements are being successfully met.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post journal entries.
  • Maintain the general ledger and ensure the accuracy of financial records.
  • Perform balance sheet, bank, and account reconciliations.
  • Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
  • Prepare financial statements, reports, and supporting schedules.
  • Maintain fixed asset records, depreciation schedules, accruals, and prepaid expenses.
  • Perform intercompany accounting transactions and reconciliations, as applicable.
  • Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing audit schedules and requested documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, accounting policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with process improvements and accounting system enhancements.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and documentation.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting (preferred), Finance, or Business Administration with an accounting concentration.
  • Master's degree (MBA or Master of Accounting) is a plus for more senior candidates.

Experience

  • 2–5 years of general ledger or general accounting experience.
  • Experience with:
    • General ledger maintenance
    • Journal entries
    • Month-end and year-end close
    • Account and bank reconciliations
    • Financial statement preparation
    • Fixed assets and depreciation
    • Accruals and prepaid expenses
    • Audit preparation and support

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency with QuickBooks (Online and/or Desktop) is required.
  • Proficiency in ADP is required.0
  • Experience with one or more ERP systems i0s preferred, including:
    • SAP
    • Oracle ERP
    • Microsoft Dynamics 365
    • NetSuite
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including:
    • PivotTables
    • XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP
    • SUMIFS
    • IF formulas
    • Data validation
    • Data analysis and reporting
    • Basic Power Query (preferred)

Accounting Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Knowledge of financial reporting and internal controls.
  • Experience supporting audits and regulatory compliance.
  • Basic understanding of tax and accounting regulations.

Preferred Certifications

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Certified Management Accountant (CMA)
  • Chartered Accountant (CA), where applicable

Professional certifications are preferred but not required.

    • Financial reporting, including Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow statements
    • Month-end close activities within QuickBooks
    • Importing and exporting financial data
