About this role

The expected salary range for this position is $123,240.00 - $144,797.60. Employees in specific high cost of labor locations in the United States (such as San Francisco, CA and Seattle, WA) may qualify for a geographic differential. Compassion is looking for a DevOps AWS expert who is passionate about making an eternal difference utilizing technology. We need someone who can join our other AWS staff in managing and maturing our AWS platform, while still mentoring our internal customers to pursue ever increasing value from AWS utilizing strong DevOps practices!

What will you do?

  • Maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ, maintains a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of Compassion, and faithfully upholds Compassion’s ministry in prayer.

  • Acts as an advocate to raise the awareness of the needs of children. Understands Christ’s mandate to protect children. Commits to and prioritizes child protection considerations in all decision-making, tasks and activities across the ministry. Abides by all behavioral expectations in Compassion’s Statement of Commitment to Child Protection and Code of Conduct. Reports any concerns of abuse, neglect or exploitation of children through Compassion’s internal reporting process and appropriately supports responses to incidents if they occur.

  • Matures DevOps disciplines and champions the lean agile mindset for major initiatives regarding issues such as Test Driven Development, flow, and systems thinking.

  • Continually improves integration of complex infrastructure builds with application deployment processes across major projects and systems.

  • Troubleshoots complicated technical problems relating to information systems, providing insight and guidance to other specialists.

  • Analyzes, designs and evaluates large automation scripts and systems.

  • Researches new technologies that will be efficient, effective, and highly scalable.

  • Coaches and provides expertise, and may oversee the work of other professionals and support staff in the business analysis discipline.

  • AWS production experience — Extensive experience operating and optimizing AWS environments at scale

  • Cloud Operations — Deep understanding of AWS Cloud Operations life cycle management including security, governance, compliance, and disaster recovery models

  • Landing Zone Accelerator (LZA) — Hands‑on experience implementing and operating AWS Landing Zone Accelerator (LZA), including governance, multi‑account architecture, security controls, and automation patterns

  • AWS Lattice & advanced networking — Experience designing and operating service‑to‑service communication using AWS Application Networking (AWS Lattice), including secure connectivity, traffic routing, service mesh patterns, cross‑account communication and hybrid networking.

  • AI/ML platform engineering — Experience driving innovation by integrating AI/ML capabilities into AWS platform engineering, including designing and maintaining foundational services.    Skilled at leveraging AI to enhance operational efficiency, accelerate delivery workflows, and improve platform reliability.

  • Automation expertise — Strong automation skills, eliminating manual work whenever possible, e.g., Infrastructure as Code, pipelines, and operational scripting

  • Workload migration —History of migrating complex workloads onto AWS

  • Kubernetes & Serverless — Ability to design, build, and operate workloads in Kubernetes and AWS serverless architectures

  • Python engineering — Strong Python development skills for operational tooling, automation scripts, and AWS Lambda functions
