Job Description
 

Gilead Sciences is seeking a Senior Counsel – HIV Prevention Legal Business Partner to join our team of US Legal Business Partners with a focus on HIV Prevention.

The role is office-based/hybrid, located in Foster City, California, reporting to the Associate General Counsel, HIV Prevention.

The Senior Counsel - HIV Prevention Legal Business Partner is responsible for providing legal support in relation to the development and commercialization of Gilead’s HIV Prevention portfolio and other related investigational assets.

Job Responsibilities

  • The clients for this role include personnel in Commercial, Medical, Public Affairs, Government Affairs, Finance, and Regulatory. The Legal Business Partner team, where this attorney will sit, partners closely with colleagues in Compliance, Privacy, Pricing & Access, Competition Law, Regulatory, Intellectual Property, and other groups to ensure the compliant commercialization of our product.

  • The Legal Business partner will provide legal guidance and support for US Commercial and Corporate Affairs strategies and tactics related to promotional and educational activities, including engagements with healthcare providers, patients, patient organizations, and other entities, and other applications of healthcare and commercial law and regulatory compliance in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry.

  • The Legal Business Partner will provide legal training to field and home office Gilead personnel and external consultants, and responsibilities include large group public speaking and occasional travel.

  • This position requires a proactive, problem-solving mindset, and a high degree of collaboration with internal clients and colleagues. This role also requires the ability to manage various issues, projects and initiatives simultaneously across geographies and cultures, and the ability to exercise mature and reliable judgment, while enjoying the company’s enthusiastic, patient-focused, and fast-paced environment.

  • This position requires a team player that is self-motivated, able to successfully resolve challenging legal issues and able to effectively deliver sound and clear legal advice in a business setting; they must have the ability to work well with other Legal team members and build consensus among various stakeholders while maintaining a compliant approach.

Basic Qualifications

  • Juris Doctorate from a nationally recognized law school

  • 6+ years of experience providing legal counsel on the laws and regulations relating to drugs or devices, demonstrating growth and ability to succeed

  • Be a member in good standing of the State Bar of California or have the ability to acquire status of Registered In-House Counsel from the California State Bar or gain admission from the California State Bar within 90 days

  • Be resourceful, flexible and willing to engage in a wide variety of tasks and responsibilities

  • Willingness to travel periodically within the U.S.

The salary range for this position is: $226,185.00 - $292,710.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans*.
