Role Description

We are looking for an experienced solar professional to join our UK Operations and Maintenance team as a Site Technician.

The role involves carrying out preventative and reactive maintenance across our UK Solar PV and BESS portfolio. Reporting to the O&M Manager and working closely with the wider O&M team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of our assets.

This role is based across Buckingham, Oxford, Northamptonshire and Berkshire.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out preventative maintenance activities and deliver maintenance programmes to ensure installations operate at peak performance
  • Identify, locate and respond to fault situations
  • Understand the contractual requirements for each site to support effective management
  • Support plant monitoring and performance analysis in collaboration with the monitoring team
  • Ensure compliance with legislation, company policies and health and safety requirements
  • Carry out due diligence site and paperwork inspections
  • Manage stock and materials
  • Assist with system upgrade works
  • Undertake relevant training and development
  • Supervise and manage contractors where required
  • Participate in weekend on-call duties on a rota basis (1 in 4 weekends)

Skills & Experience

Prospective candidates should be qualified in an engineering discipline or able to demonstrate equivalent experience, hold an Electrical Installation qualification to Level 3 City & Guilds or NVQ equivalent, or possess an equivalent electronics qualification. Candidates should also hold BS7671 Wiring Regulations 18th Edition and have a sound working knowledge of the regulations.

A City & Guilds Inspection and Testing qualification to Level 3 is desirable. Candidates should also be able to provide evidence of the following:

  • At least three years’ experience in the electricity industry, with a demonstrable track record of supporting the performance of operational assets and a strong technical understanding of electricity generation, particularly solar park technology
  • Competence in working with quality standards, best practice procedures, technical specifications and regulatory requirements
  • A self-starter with a passion for the renewable energy industry, a drive for success, and the confidence to challenge the status quo in order to maximise asset performance safely and effectively
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport quickly and develop effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including OEMs and contractors
  • High Voltage Authorised Person or Senior Authorised Person qualifications are desirable
  • Experience with Solar PV inverters is desirable
