Context
We are seeking a Site Engineer – Trackwork. The role is responsible for monitoring contractor performance, ensuring compliance with project specifications, safety standards, approved drawings, and construction schedules, and reporting site progress to the PMC management team and client.
Missions/Main Duties
- Supervise and monitor trackwork construction activities carried out by contractors on site.
- Review and verify compliance with approved drawings, method statements, inspection and test plans, technical specifications, and project quality requirements.
- Inspect track installation works including rail, sleepers, ballast, fastening systems, turnouts, alignment, levels, and associated components.
- Coordinate with civil, systems, signaling, electrification, and interface teams to ensure smooth execution of trackwork activities.
- Monitor contractor resources, manpower, equipment, and construction sequences against the approved program.
- Identify construction issues, technical deviations, and site constraints, and escalate them to the PMC Project Manager or Resident Engineer as required.
- Witness inspections, testing, and commissioning-related activities for trackwork elements.
- Review contractor submissions such as shop drawings, material approvals, work method statements, and progress reports.
- Ensure that all work is executed in accordance with health, safety, and environmental requirements and report any unsafe conditions or practices.
- Track daily progress, site productivity, and work fronts, and prepare site observations and progress updates.
- Participate in site meetings, coordination meetings, inspections, and walkdowns with the client and contractors.
Profile/Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in railway projects.
- Proven experience in trackwork construction supervision or inspection, preferably in a PMC, consultant, or supervision environment.
- Good knowledge of railway track components, installation methods, tolerances, and quality control requirements
- Exposure to ballast track and/or slab track systems.
