Responsibilities

  • Preparing domestic and/or international orders for shipment shipping according to shipping work instructions.
  • Determining method of shipment by utilizing shipping instructions on the order.
  • Attaching shipping labels and documents on cartons/pallets to identify information on goods.
  • Utilize a variety of software to complete export documents, shipping receipts and bill of ladings.
  • Daily communications with forwarders and carriers through email.
  • Maintaining good housekeeping and orderly storage of materials.
  • Inspecting shipments for damages or defects; reporting discrepancies or damages to supervisor and/or purchasing personnel.
  • Operating power equipment and other warehouse equipment with care and safety. Must pass in-house test to receive a forklift-operating license.
  • Assisting in taking inventories and/or cycle counting.

Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

 

Experience

  • Packaging, warehousing, and manufacturing preferred.

 

Other Skills and Abilities

  • Flexibility to work overtime, sometimes on short notice, to assure raw material is received and finished goods are shipped to customers on time.
  • Ability to calculate mathematical values.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to give attention to detail.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, both within company and with customer vendors.

 

Physical Demand

  • Medium Work - Lifting of 50 pounds maximum.
