Skeleton Key is a game development studio and division of Wizards of the Coast. We are a group of people who are guided by the belief that by empowering our teams and providing the necessary time, tools, and support we can foster a creative culture where everyone can do their best work.

Skeleton Key is headquartered in Austin, TX, and we’re building out a new, growing team in Montreal, QC. We’re looking for a skilled Senior VFX Artist with a strong passion for building a variety of real-time effects for environments, characters, and assets to join the Montreal team and help bring our first AAA game to life. 

What You'll Do:

  • Improve the visual quality of the game by crafting high-quality real-time visual effects.
  • Collaborate with Art, Lighting, Design, Sound, Animation, and Production to bring levels and features to life.
  • Help to improve technical pipelines and VFX creation techniques/tools.
  • Assist in research and development.
  • Mentor junior visual effect artists.

What You'll Bring:

  • Experience working within Unreal Engine.
  • Proven track record at building beautiful and integrated VFX for Games
  • Knowledge of Niagara Systems, Material Building, Texturing, Blueprints, Chaos Destruction, and other real-time VFX systems.
  • Both technical and creative with an artistic vision.
  • Strong understanding of particle systems and dynamics.
  • Familiarity with supportive software such as EmberGen, LiquiGen, Houdini, Maya, 3ds Max, Blender, Photoshop, and After Effects.
  • Experience with giving and receiving feedback.
  • Experience multi-tasking and adapting easily to change.
  • Passion for making and playing games.
  • Enthusiastic, positive, team-oriented; must have the ability to interact and collaborate with all departments and teams.
  • Self-sufficient and self-motivated, can perform duties with little oversight.
