Senior Technical Safety Engineer - (Project Contract)

JOB TITLE:

SENIOR TECHNICAL SAFETY ENGINEER.

REPORTS TO:

ENGINEERING MANAGER

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide technical/prcocess safety and general Health Safety and Environmental engineering support for surface production systems design, testing, pre-commissioning and start-up
• Check, Review and Approve process/technical safety documentation in assigned Project.
• Interface with Process/Technical safety counterpart in Contractor’s engineering team during the Engineering Phase of projects
• Ensure that Technical/Process safety-related Design is carried out in accordance with internal company standards and in line with national standards, recommended International Standards and best practices.
• Evaluation of contractors during prequalification and technical stages of a project and selection of best technical/economical solutions and products for process/technical safety systems
• promptly notify superior if a design change will lead to cost variation in a project and review requests for variation from contractor relevant to process design.
• Make input to cost estimate for projects.
• Partake site surveys and make input in the initial phases of projects, in design concept selection.
• Develop Project Specific Process/technical safety Documents for each new in-house Project ensuring that Flare radiation, noise and gas dispersion comply with relevant standards.
• Identify and assess process safety risks and related countermeasures in all the project phases.
• Undertake HAZOP/HAZID and other safety reviews/studies to verify the safety and operability of existing and new oil and gas facilities.

EDUCATION:

Degree in Mechanical/Chemical engineering.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION:

• Corporate member NSE/COREN
• Possess NEBOSH-HS55 certification

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

10 years of Oil & Gas Industry experience

7 years of practical Process/Technical Safety experience
