Senior Technical Designer - Derek Lam 10 Crosby

NYC Alliance seeks a highly skilled Senior Technical Designer with extensive experience in contemporary and premium apparel to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of fit, construction, and technical specifications across multiple categories, along with the ability to communicate clearly with factories, cross-functional partners, and retail partners. This role is essential in ensuring our products meet the highest standards of quality, fit consistency, and brand integrity from initial development through production.

The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of and hands-on experience in contemporary apparel fitting, with particular expertise in woven blazers, bottoms, and dresses.

Responsibilities:

• Develop technical packages for fit sample development in all categories

• Evaluate fit samples, pre-production and TOP samples for specs, quality and workmanship

• Participate in maintaining consistency of product fit, technical specifications and development processes across brands

• Conduct fittings with designers and internal teams on live models and body forms

• Write fit comments to factories based on fittings, providing clear technical comments and illustrations/photos

• Maintain a product library for future reference

• Correspond with factories and cross-functional partners on a daily basis to solve problems and ensure product integrity

• Work with the Production department on follow-up and timing of approval comments to meet delivery expectations

• Act as a liaison between Design, Sales, Production, and Factory to ensure samples are made to correct specifications

• Plan appropriate fit schedules with models and designers

• Update and maintain department fit logs

• 7+ years of experience in Technical Design

• Experience working with contemporary and premium fashion brands

• Knowledge of assembling detailed technical packages to communicate proper instructions to agents/factories for style development

• Extensive experience participating in fittings and evaluating garment construction and fit

• Ability to assign clear and accurate points of measure

• Ability to determine appropriate grade rules across all points of measure

• Highly organized and experienced in all phases of technical design

• Ability to partner and collaborate with cross-functional teams

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines with a high sense of urgency

• Proficiency with PLM

Annual Salary: $120,000

The offered salary for this position will vary based on role requirements determined by NYC Alliance, skill set, and years of experience.
