What you’ll do

As a Quality Engineer, you'll play a hands-on role in protecting the reliability of one of our core backend platforms, a central service that produces data consumed by a range of other products across the business.

You'll combine manual testing of the platform's admin portal with automated API test coverage, working closely with backend engineers to catch issues, especially ones that could break downstream products, before they reach production.

Because this platform sits upstream of multiple other services, your testing has a wider reach than most. You'll help shape how the team catches breaking changes early, and build automation that keeps pace as the platform evolves.

To make this happen, you will:

• Test the platform's admin portal end-to-end and verify tickets in the test environment
• Design and execute manual test plans covering functional and regression scenarios
• Build and maintain automated API tests for the platform's REST APIs
• Validate API contract stability across releases, working with engineering on breaking-change detection
• Assess changes against how downstream products actually use the platform's data, flagging risk that isn't obvious in isolation
• Manage test environments and configurations across development, staging, and production-equivalents
• Collaborate cross-team on defect triage and clear, actionable bug reporting
• Contribute to CI/CD quality gates as the platform's API-stability initiatives mature

What you’ll bring

• 5+ years of QA/QE experience combining manual testing and test automation
• Solid experience testing REST APIs: Postman/Newman, OpenAPI/Swagger, and writing your own test assertions
• Working knowledge of ticket-based QA workflows (e.g. Jira)
• Understanding of the risks specific to producer/consumer service architectures, including versioning and backward compatibility
• Strong written communication for bug reports and test documentation that engineers across different stacks can act on

Even better if you have;

• Familiarity with .NET/C# codebases, Typescript
• Exposure to contract testing tools (e.g. Pact) or CI-integrated API diffing (e.g. oasdiff)
• Experience adding automated checks as CI/CD quality gates
