About this role
Job Description Summary
Job Description
The Opportunity
Every megawatt matters. As a Senior Operator at the Haifu Power Station, you are the hands-on expert who keeps the plant running safely, efficiently, and in full compliance — every shift, every day. You will work shoulder-to-shoulder with a close-knit team, respond to real challenges in real time, and play a direct role in keeping the lights on for the communities we serve. If you thrive in a fast-moving environment where your technical knowledge and sharp instincts make a genuine difference, this is the role for you.
What You'll Do
- Operate and monitor plant systems during your shift, maintaining performance within all applicable safety, emissions, and efficiency guidelines.
- Keep accurate shift logs covering all normal operations and any operational events or excursions, and conduct regular plant inspection tours.
- Troubleshoot and respond to plant issues as they arise, taking corrective action whenever the safety of people, equipment, or the environment is at risk.
- Support maintenance and outage work, carrying out minor on-shift maintenance and assisting the management team during planned outages.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to reduce costs, improve performance, and update station manuals and work instructions.
- Work as a team, partnering closely with your shift colleague and contributing actively to team meetings to raise standards across the station.
Who You Are
You are a steady, safety-first operator who knows how a power station runs and takes pride in doing the job right. You bring hands-on experience in power generation or a related industry, a strong awareness of safe working practices, and the communication skills to work effectively in an English-language environment.
Required
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Marine Engineering — or equivalent hands-on experience in a power generation or industrial environment
- 3–5 years of experience in power generation operations or maintenance, ideally on combined cycle gas turbines (CCGTs); experience in petrochemical or cogeneration plants is also welcome
- Working knowledge of engineering design and operational practices on a modern power station
- Familiarity with legislation and regulations governing the safe operation of power plant equipment
- Strong risk assessment and safety awareness skills
- Ability to speak, read, and write in English
- Willingness to work rotating shifts and be based full-time at the Taoyuan site
Preferred
- Authorization as an Authorised Person (AP) or equivalent certification under relevant safety frameworks
- Experience supporting or leading plant inspections and housekeeping standards
- Exposure to water treatment plant operations and routine water testing
