Master Technician – Senior Diagnostic
Department
Aftersales / Technical Services / Workshop Operations
Reports to
Workshop Manager / Technical Manager / Service Manager
Experience
Approx. 6–12 years; minimum 4–5 years in premium OEM diagnostics
Location
Role Summary. The Master Technician is the workshop’s senior diagnostic authority, responsible for resolving complex premium-vehicle faults, managing escalations, performing advanced ECU programming and network diagnostics, and mentoring other technicians.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose escalated, intermittent, cross-domain and network-related vehicle faults.
- Perform complex ECU programming, coding, software updates and adaptations.
- Troubleshoot CAN/LIN communication, gateway and module-network faults.
- Lead technical escalations and prepare structured cases for OEM support where required.
- Capture and interpret diagnostic logs and traces.
- Mentor junior and mid-level technicians on diagnostic process, tools and quality standards.
- Maintain accurate job-card, warranty and technical documentation.
- Coordinate with Service Advisors, Parts, Warranty and OEM technical teams.
- Follow workshop quality, safety, ESD and high-voltage procedures.
Preferred Skills
- OEM Master Technician or equivalent certification.
- Experience with XENTRY, ISTA, ODIS, PIWIS or equivalent OEM tools.
- UDS / ISO 14229 awareness; ODX familiarity.
- CANalyzer, CANoe or equivalent network-analysis exposure.
- ADAS calibration and EV/high-voltage safety awareness.

Required Qualifications
- Diploma or B.Tech in Automobile, Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
- Hands-on premium OEM diagnostic experience.
- Proven ECU programming/coding and advanced CAN diagnostic capability.
- Experience with complex diagnostic case handling and technical documentation.
- Strong communication and mentoring capability.
