About this role

Job Summary

The Electrical Engineering (EE) Engineer will support Sustaining Engineering activities for Acute Engineering products by providing innovative solutions to field, manufacturing, and component-related challenges. The role involves component obsolescence management, alternate component evaluation and qualification, root cause analysis (RCA), electrical design support, product testing, and verification activities. The engineer will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure product reliability, compliance, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Component Engineering & Sustaining Support

  • Evaluate, analyze, and qualify alternate electronic components for existing designs.
  • Perform technical and functional comparison of components and prepare engineering assessment reports.
  • Support Supplier Notification for Changes (SNC) activities, including impact assessment and approval recommendations.
  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and troubleshoot product-related electrical issues.
  • Prepare technical documentation and engineering reports for design changes and investigations.

Electrical Design & Development

  • Develop and modify electrical schematics and PCB layouts.
  • Perform detailed electrical engineering calculations and analyses.
  • Support board-level design improvements and sustaining engineering initiatives.

Testing & Validation

  • Develop, execute, and document functional, performance, and verification test procedures.
  • Perform board bring-up, electrical design verification, and troubleshooting.
  • Diagnose board-level issues and collaborate with the core team to resolve design-related problems.
  • Support EMI/EMC, safety, and compliance testing activities through internal and external test laboratories.
  • Author test plans, test procedures, and test reports for qualification and validation activities.

Quality & Compliance

  • Follow Quality Management System (QMS) requirements and maintain good documentation practices.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable electrical safety and EMC standards.
  • Maintain effective collaboration with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Skill Requirements

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of electronic circuit design, analysis, and testing.
  • Good understanding of electronic components, including passives, discrete semiconductors, and integrated circuits.
  • Experience with schematic capture and PCB design tools such as Altium Designer, OrCAD Capture, and OrCAD Allegro PCB Designer.
  • Hands-on experience in board bring-up, functional testing, and performance validation.
  • Proficiency in using laboratory instruments such as Oscilloscopes, Digital Multimeters (DMM), Power Supplies, and Signal Generators.
  • Experience in EMI/EMC testing and IEC electrical safety standards.
  • Strong troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and problem-solving skills.

Other Requirements

Other Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 8 to 10 years of experience in electronic hardware design, validation, and testing.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while following established procedures and test protocols.
  • Experience supporting sustaining engineering, product lifecycle management, and component qualification activities is preferred.
  • Ability to maintain high-quality documentation and adhere to regulatory and quality standards.
