About this role

About the team

The Compliance Assurance team forms a key part of the Group’s Risk Assurance Function, delivering independent, risk-based assurance for the Bank through a structured programme of thematic reviews, compliance monitoring, and control testing across critical business areas. Testing is conducted throughout the year in line with a risk‑based assurance plan, ensuring that the most significant risks are subject to rigorous scrutiny, challenge, and validation. By joining this team, you will be part of a group with a diverse skill set, bringing together varied expertise to strengthen the Bank’s control environment, promote consistency, and provide confidence that key risks are being effectively managed.

You will report directly to the Group Head of Risk Assurance, ensuring visibility and impact at the highest level.

What you will be doing?

As a Senior Compliance Assurance Manager, you’ll support the Group Head of Risk Assurance in delivering an effective, risk-led assurance function, while leading, coaching and developing colleagues within the team.

You’ll oversee assurance activity across key risk areas, including material control testing, thematic reviews and targeted assessments, providing clear and credible insight into regulatory compliance, controls and customer outcomes. Working collaboratively with stakeholders, you’ll help strengthen our assurance approach, drive continuous improvement and provide meaningful reporting that supports informed, risk-based decisions.

Your responsibilities will include;

  • Develop and oversee the risk-based Compliance Assurance Plan, ensuring activity is focused on the areas of greatest risk and provides meaningful insight into regulatory compliance, controls and customer outcomes.
  • Lead Compliance Assurance reviews, including thematic reviews, monitoring activity and customer journey assessments, ensuring findings and recommendations are clear, evidence-based and proportionate.
  • Support the delivery of material control testing, ensuring testing is risk-based, evidence-led and aligned with regulatory expectations, key risks and control objectives.
  • Maintain and develop the Compliance Assurance Risk Universe and Assurance Map, helping to ensure our assurance approach remains relevant, effective and responsive to emerging risks.
  • Keep up to date with regulatory developments, identifying potential compliance risks and helping to strengthen assurance methodologies, policies, procedures and controls.
  • Oversee assurance activity and actions, monitoring progress, identifying themes and escalating emerging risks or control weaknesses to support timely and effective resolution.
  • Build positive and collaborative relationships with senior stakeholders, providing constructive challenge and guidance while keeping assurance activity focused on the regulatory, conduct and customer risks that matter most.
  • Provide clear and insightful reporting to Senior Leadership, using data and trends to highlight assurance outcomes, key risk themes and actions, supporting informed and timely decision-making.

What's in it for you?

We offer a base salary depending on experience and location of £68000 - £80000 and a competitive benefits package including:

  • Annual discretionary bonus opportunity
  • 30 days annual leave
  • Choose to contribute 3% or 5% pension, with employer contributions of 6% or 8% respectively
