Senior Buyer

As a Senior Buyer, a typical day might include the following:  

Adhere to purchasing policies and practices to ensure highest quality, appropriate inventory levels, timely delivery, and competitive cost from suppliers.

Develop and lead in the execution of strategic sourcing plans to support company objectives.

Identify risks to SEL's supply chain and report to manager with plan(s) to mitigate risks; including overall market trends, capacity constraints, commodity risks, and business conditions for manufacturers and suppliers.

Develop supplier partnerships by identifying areas for improvement, escalating issues to manager along with corrective action plans, and executing corrective action plans in accordance with World Class Manufacturing principles.

Role model for business professionalism, purchasing fundamentals, time management, data analysis, supply chain management, supplier development, cost reduction strategy development and negotiation techniques.

Follow and apply SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing Principles.

Develops and implements sourcing strategies.

Manages supplier relationships and performance.

Leads commercial negotiations and contract discussions.

Mitigates supply chain and procurement risks.

Drives cost savings and value optimization.

Ensures procurement compliance and governance.

Provides market intelligence and sourcing insights.

Partners with stakeholders to support project delivery.

This job might be for you if you have: 

B.A./B.S. degree in business, operations, or supply chain; or a combination of relevant education and experience

Typically, 5 or more years of experience

Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills

Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities

Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment

Background check results satisfactory to SEL

Negative drug test result(s)

Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel

Experience working with MRP/ERP systems
