About this role

A world empowered by autonomy. We build robotic vehicles to improve logistics safety, forge a greener Earth, and enhance human lives.

We are a closely-knit team aspiring to change the world through disruptive technology. We are innovators. We are tinkerers. We are problem-solvers. And we have a fair amount of magic dust up our sleeves. We have a plan for fleet-level deployment of autonomous vehicles, and we are looking for the best-of-the-best to join us in making this a reality.

About Venti Technologies

Based in the U.S. and Asia, Venti Technologies is the leader in safe-speed autonomous logistics systems, developing the future of goods transportation. Using rigorous mathematics, deep learning, and theoretically-grounded algorithms, Venti has a proprietary collection of autonomy technologies including a suite of powerful logistics algorithms. Venti’s proven value proposition of saving costs, increasing vehicle utilization, and improving safety is recognized by customers and driving growth. Launched in 2018, Venti brings together an unsurpassed team internationally. The company has autonomous systems deployed in Asia for industrial and logistics sites and a growing pipeline. Venti has offices in Cambridge (Massachusetts, USA), Suzhou (China), and Singapore – our Asian headquarters.

About the Role

We take trucks that people drive by hand and turn them into vehicles that drive themselves. Our clients operate heavy prime movers; we convert them to drive-by-wire and hand control to our software. The electrical system is where the hardware and the autonomy meet — and that's your domain.

You'll own the electrical design of these conversions end to end: from climbing onto a client's truck to figure out how it works, through to production-ready documentation a manufacturer can build from. You'll also keep our existing electronics healthy — a library of custom PCBs the team already relies on.

This isn't a desk-only job. Some weeks you're at a CAD workstation drawing harness schematics; others you're at a client site with your hands on a truck. If that mix sounds good, keep reading.

Role responsibilities

  • Travel to client sites to inspect and reverse-engineer target vehicles — their communication, sensors, and actuators — to work out how each system needs to be interfaced and controlled.

  • Design the full electrical system architecture that Venti installs into each vehicle.

  • Design the wire harnesses down to the detail: component, connector, pin, and wire selection.

  • Produce system-architecture and individual harness schematics in RapidHarness, packaged as production-ready documentation for third-party manufacturers, with BOMs and version history.

  • Get CAN communication architecture right and follow good design practice.

  • Design for harsh environments and safety-critical applications—apply sound component selection and electrical design practices to withstand vibration, shock, temperature extremes, dust, water ingress, and EMC challenges found in heavy-duty vehicles.

Test and validate before we commit

  • Work with the team on system design, testing, and validation.

  • Bench-test and stress-test the system before it goes to production.

  • Once in production, help troubleshoot issues that arise and document root causes and fixes clearly.

Keep our PCBs alive

  • Maintain, update, and troubleshoot the existing boards the team has built, using KiCad.

  • Handle smaller updates: component swaps, end-of-life parts, and digging into misbehaving boards. These cover ARM-based microcontrollers (e.g. STM32), relays, mosfets, voltage regulation, signal conditioning, analog and digital inputs across different voltage ranges, mixed I/O at various voltage levels and current ratings, and CAN communication including transceiver/adapter circuitry.

  • Occasionally design new, simpler boards — usually interface PCBs.

Keep everything documented and on track

  • Keep BOMs, schematics, and version history accurate and current.

  • Work closely with Procurement so the right parts arrive on time and correct.

What We're Looking For

  • A degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering (or similar) with senior-level experience in related fields such as automotive / heavy machinery / robotics etc.

  • A strong PCB design background, and the ability to confidently maintain, update, and troubleshoot boards the team already built.

  • Proficiency in KiCad for PCB work and RapidHarness for harness schematics (or a close equivalent, if you're ready to switch).

  • Hands-on experience designing wire harnesses at the detail level: components, connectors, pins, wires.

  • Solid grounding in microcontroller-based designs, relays, voltage regulation, signal conditioning, mixed analog/digital I/O, and CAN.

  • Experience with CAN communication architecture and good design practice.

  • An eye for signal integrity in electrically noisy environments.

  • Experience producing manufacturing-ready documentation and managing BOMs and version history for third-party production.

  • A genuine willingness to travel to client sites and get hands-on with vehicles.

Nice to Have

Familiarity with Linux, including command-line tools and basic scripting (e.g. Bash or Python), as many of Venti's internal engineering and troubleshooting tools run on Linux. - Proficiency in Mandarin is beneficial for technical discussions with Chinese vendors and contract manufacturers.

Salary is commensurate with experience. We also offer world-class benefits, fantastic culture, flexible working arrangements, and a great international working environment. Come and join us!
