About this role

As Business Operations & Strategy Senior Specialist, you’ll help turn information from across the business into clear insights, executive materials, and coordinated action. Reporting to the Director of HRBP and supporting the SVP of Operations, you’ll analyze business performance, research competitors, prepare leadership presentations, and track strategic priorities across functions.

This newly created position offers the opportunity to shape how leadership reviews performance and follows through on decisions. You’ll gain exposure to senior leaders and partner with Operations, Finance, QHSE, and other teams, building a broad understanding of the business. With direction and support from your manager, you’ll bring curiosity, analytical judgment, and initiative to work that helps leaders identify risks, focus attention, and make better-informed decisions.

  • Maintain an action and initiative tracker covering strategic priorities, TapRooT corrective actions, audit findings, and regional commitments; follow up with accountable owners on dates, dependencies, and closure evidence.
  • Prepare concise status summaries and flag stalled actions, unresolved dependencies, or material risks for escalation to the SVP of Operations.
  • Maintain repeatable templates and records that reduce ad hoc preparation and preserve a reliable source of truth for commitments and decisions.

  • Conduct structured market and peer research, including peer rig activity and market-share indicators, in partnership with Sales and other data owners.
  • Identify trends, outliers, and information gaps and present fact-based observations for leadership consideration without displacing Finance, Sales, or operational decision rights.

Executive Materials & Communications
Primary Skills: Business Writing • Business Presentations • Communication Strategy • Report Writing

  • Prepare presentations and leadership-review materials, and support board, executive committee, and town hall content, from inputs supplied by accountable subject-matter owners.

  • Maintain version control, sourcing, and approval records for executive materials and recurring communications.

Dashboard Maintenance & Program Effectiveness

  • Maintain an inventory of current initiatives, scorecards, and dashboards across audits, training, Operations, QHSE, and other Operations-supporting functions.
  • Support common definitions, reporting cadence, source ownership, and presentation standards by working with functional data owners.
  • Assess whether dashboards and initiatives support decisions, accountability, and measurable outcomes; recommend consolidation, redesign, or retirement to the HRBP for owner approval.
  • Support a recurring effectiveness review and document decisions, actions, and unresolved data-quality or ownership issues.

Cross-Functional Initiative Support
Primary Skills: Cross-functional Teamwork • Stakeholder Management • Project Coordination • Gap Analysis

  • Assist, as needed, initiatives spanning regions and business lines.
  • Prepare steering-committee materials, support working sessions, document decisions, and track risks, dependencies, and actions through closure.
  • Note handoff, process, and interface gaps that could delay delivery or create duplicate effort and raise them for resolution.

Leadership Support & Special Projects
Primary Skills: Tactical Execution • Communication Skills • Business Judgment • Confidentiality

  • Provide preparation and follow-up support for Operations leadership in selected internal forums, capturing decisions and actions and returning them to the accountable leader.
  • Support approved external and industry-association activities with research, briefing preparation, scheduling inputs, and follow-up, without owning external relationships assigned to Sales or executives.
  • Support ad hoc business cases, organizational analyses, and special projects using inputs validated by the appropriate functional owner.
  • Handle sensitive executive, safety, commercial, and organizational information with appropriate discretion and access controls.
  • Support lessons-learned sessions, process-improvement workshops, and development of reusable playbooks and templates.
  • Perform other related duties consistent with the role’s purpose, senior specialist level, and business needs.

Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Operations, or a related field; equivalent directly relevant education and experience may be considered.
  • 3–5 years of experience in business operations, management consulting, corporate strategy, program management, performance analysis, or a related operational role.

  • Demonstrated experience supporting multiple concurrent initiatives, maintaining action and decision records, and following up with stakeholders without direct authority.

  • Experience with performance dashboards, competitive intelligence, program-management offices, audit or corrective-action tracking, or structured root-cause methodologies.

  • Project management, continuous improvement, analytics, or change-management training or certification.
