What you’ll do

  • Safety First: Demonstrate 100 percent commitment to our zero harm behaviors in support of building a world-class safety culture.
  • R&D Leadership: Lead ceramics-focused research and development projects, translating business demands into actionable priorities aligned with product and technology roadmaps.
  • Technical Problem Solving: Provide expert technical support to manufacturing, engineering, and customer-facing teams, troubleshooting ceramics failures and proposing effective solutions.
  • Project Management: Manage multiple R&D projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and integration of laboratory outcomes into trials, scale-up, and manufacturing readiness.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Liaise closely with vendors, suppliers, and internal teams across APAC and globally to support material selection, application, and product development.
  • Team Support and Mentorship: Supervise and mentor junior materials staff, fostering a collaborative and hands-on team environment.
  • Travel Requirements: Occasional travel may be required to liaise with vendors, suppliers, and manufacturing sites, primarily within the APAC region.

What you’ll bring

Must-haves:

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral degree in Materials Science, Ceramics, Engineering, or a closely related physical science.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in ceramics development, testing, manufacturing, or applications of wear resistant ceramics.
  • Proven ability to lead R&D projects and provide technical support to engineering and customer-facing teams.
  • Strong knowledge of ceramics manufacturing, wear-resistant ceramics, and materials characterization techniques such as SEM and XRD.

Nice-to-haves:

  • Experience in the mining industry or heavy manufacturing sectors.
  • Practical knowledge of translating R&D outputs into manufacturable solutions.
  • Mandarin language skills to support vendor and supplier communication in China.
  • Experience working in a collaborative, multi-regional R&D environment.
