Responsibilities:

  • Scout emerging technologies in AI, design automation, mechanical engineering, and simulation 
  • Develop prototypes and PoCs (e.g. neural networks, surrogate models, agentic workflows, LLM‑based engineering assistants) 
  • Develop AI‑driven (digital twin / hybrid) models for condition monitoring, predictive maintenance, and lifecycle optimization by integrating sensor data, simulation results, and engineering domain knowledge 
  • Conduct applied research: formulate hypotheses, train models, validate results, and analyze data. 
  • Transfer research into robust, scalable solutions for engineering and operations 
  • Collaborate closely with engineering and product development teams in DE/USA 
  • Document results and contribute to internal knowledge sharing 
  • After a three-year program in Weinheim, transfer to our Wolfratshausen location – with a focus on the application and scaling of AI-supported engineering solutions in the area of R&D 

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in engineering, computational sciences, physics, materials, or related fields 

  • Experience in applied research or industrial development 

  • Skills in at least two areas: neural networks, GenAI/LLMs & agentic systems, surrogate models, data analytics, simulation (FEM/CFD), MLOps or platform development 

  • Strong programming skills (Python) 

  • Experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow; familiarity with GenAI tooling (e.g., LangChain) is a plus 

  • Ability to communicate complex topics clearly in English/German; collaborative working style
