Position Summary: Scheduling Coordinator · Schedules patients for appointments and procedures across multiple areas. · Collects, verifies, and records patient demographics, insurance/payment, and referral information. · Screens patients according to departmental policies. · Enters information accurately into hospital and departmental computer systems. · Answers, screens, and routes telephone calls. · Provides general office support. · May assist with pre-authorizations and referrals. · Communicates effectively and promotes teamwork. · Provides exceptional patient and family service. · Embodies the hospital’s core values in all interactions. · Principal Duties & Responsibilities · Scheduling · Schedule appointments and procedures across multiple areas. · Coordinate with providers, locations, patients, and families.
· Offer appointment options based on location and availability. · Enter scheduling information into hospital IT systems. · Coordinate interpreter services when needed. · Patient Information & Insurance · Collect, verify, and enter patient demographics. · Collect and verify insurance/payment information. · Obtain and process referral information. · Enter CPT and ICD-9/10 codes to support the authorization process. · Follow HIPAA-approved procedures. Patient Screening · Screen patients for potential contraindications based on the examination or location. · Complete paper or electronic screening forms as needed. · Escalate questions or concerns appropriately. Telephone & Office Support · Answer, screen, and route calls professionally. · Take and forward messages. · Triage calls involving urgent information or services. · Respond to routine questions and requests within scope. · Perform other duties as needed. Teamwork & Customer Service · Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams. · Support positive patient outcomes. · Communicate with empathy, especially in difficult situations.
