Roadside Assistant

ICBL is Barbados’ largest general insurance provider, writing business in all areas of general insurance including, Property, Liability, Accident, Motor, Marine, Aviation and Transit Insurance. ICBL also offers insurance coverage for Group Health and Individual and Group Pensions.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill the permanent position of Roadside Assistant in the Insurance Operations Business Unit. This position is at the level of Grade 7 in the Company’s compensation structure and will report to the Roadside Assistant Fleet Supervisor or his/her designate.

Major areas of Responsibility:

• Responds to accidents/breakdowns.
• Attends to flat tyres, jump starts, battery problems, key retrievals and fuel delivery.
• Obtains towing service when required.
• Provides general assistance for disabled vehicles.
• Assists with claims as required in the event of catastrophes.
• Coordinates with service providers to effect customer satisfaction.
• Prepares claims files and reports.

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills

• Four (4) CXC General or ‘O’ Level certificates.
• Must have a valid Police Certificate of Character.
• Valid Driver’s license with at least three (3) years driving experience.

• Specialized training in areas such as claims processing, general insurance principles and practices would be an asset.

• City and Guilds certificate in Mechanical Engineering and/or Certificate in Mechanical Maintenance would be an asset.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and work autonomously.
• Possesses excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to write reports.

• Must have sound problem-solving and planning skills and the ability to deal with customers in a professional yet pleasant manner.
• Proficient computer skills – MS Office etc.
