Position Description:

A Research Scientist position in Dr. Dev Karan’s lab in the Department of Urology is available to conduct research on projects in the area of molecular biology of cancer. Our laboratory has multiple exciting directions related to tumor immunology, immunotherapy, and molecular characterization of cancer cell biology with an emphasis on understanding the therapeutic targeting of cancer.


A Research Scientist performs specialized work in planning and conducting research, may present scholarly activity at local/national/international conferences and publish the results in peer review journals. Work is performed under supervision of graduate faculty members with evaluation based on accomplishment of assigned objectives and overall effectiveness of project.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. and/or M.D. in the areas of cancer biology, molecular/cell biology, or other related fields of biomedical sciences and should be self-motivated, able to design and conduct experiments, prepare and present their work at meetings, and write scientific manuscripts.
  • Research specific skills include but are not limited to cell and molecular biology techniques and immunological assays.
  • Prior experience in the areas of tumor immunology/immunotherapy with live animals or experience in mouse models related to cancers.

This position will conduct research activities lawfully and ethically by consistently adhering to compliance policies, procedures, and regulations, as well as to train students/ technologists when necessary.
