What you will be responsible for:

• Inference systems are being rebuilt quickly. Agentic workloads are changing what traffic looks like, and serving architectures are being redesigned around disaggregation, tiered caching and large MoE models. Many of these ideas look strong on paper; far fewer hold up on a real fleet.

• This role is both research-heavy and implementation-heavy. You will follow the frontier of inference systems research, decide what matters for our workloads, and build it into our serving stack as measured, system-level improvements, designing new approaches where existing ones fall short. We expect results strong enough to ship and to publish.

• Your work is driven by the Lab's research agenda, in close collaboration with the AI Cloud platform team who own the production serving stack. Depending on background, the role can be filled as a Research Scientist or a Research Engineer; both are expected to do research and to write the code that ships it.
  The team is based in Singapore and the US, is international, and works in English.

How you will stand out:

• Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; Bachelor's candidates with an exceptional track record are also considered.
• Strong understanding of LLM inference and serving systems, with hands-on experience in at least one inference engine such as vLLM or SGLang.
• A track record of both research and implementation: new ideas, and the systems work that made them real.
• Strong Python and C++.
• Ability to define your own measurement before optimizing, and to state honestly what a number does and does not prove.
• Preferred: distributed serving experience, publications at top systems venues, or substantial open-source contributions to inference projects.
