Job Description:

• Collaborates and demonstrates teamwork in managing patient flow, promoting timely patient placement by following hospital policy for admission, discharge, and transfer. 
• Performs screening of patients by diagnosis according to utilization guidelines provided by the PRO prior to admission to appropriately assign bed assignments.
• Relays bed assignments to department personnel/receiving nursing units at the time of patient’s admission and verifies that patients with same or like names are not placed in the same room.
• Prioritizes admissions/transfers based on acuity, services needed by the patient, and federal regulatory requirements.
• Communicates courteously with internal and external customers in person or on the telephone.
• Considers factors related to safety, effectiveness, cost, and impact on practice in the delivery of nursing services.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Must possess the knowledge in medical and allied health services necessary to utilize screening criteria measured against the documented medical record. [Required]
• Must be knowledgeable about medical terminology, levels of care, treatment modalities, and the health care delivery system with demonstrated ability to abstract medical information and interpret patient records. [Required]
• Requires good interpersonal skills with ability to relate well with administration, physicians, patients, and other hospital employees. [Required]

Education:

• Associate's of Nursing [Required]
• Bachelor's of Nursing [Preferred]

Work Experience:

• 1+ years clinical experience [Required]

Licenses and Certifications:

• Registered Nurse (RN) [Required]
• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Preferred]
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support Cert (ACLS) [Preferred]
   

Pay Range:

Background Screening Requirement (Florida Law)

Certain positions are subject to Florida Level 2 background screening, including fingerprinting, as required by state law.
