About this role

  • Answers telephone calls and routine inquiries, makes necessary connection on a PBX, and places local and long distance calls.
  • Routes routine and emergency calls.
  • Pages, locates and relays messages for physicians and facility personnel.
  • Signs for receives, and routes incoming mail, including courier deliveries.
  • Provides back-up clerical support to various departments.
  • Provides "gatekeeper" and "gateway" role.
  • Researches, prioritizes, and follows up on incoming issues and concerns, including those of a sensitive or confidential nature. Determines appropriate course of action, referral, or response.
  • Receive, direct and screen visitors and clients via phone and in person.
  • Handle requests for information and data: reports as requested.
  • Respond to and resolve problems and inquiries.
  • General clerical duties including photocopying, fax, mailing, filing(electronic and paper), sorting and distributing correspondence, prepare and modify documents including correspondence, reports, drafts, memos and emails
  • Prepares for daily visitation, ensuring families sign in and observe confidentiality.
  • Educate patients and families on patient safety standards and items not allowed for patients.ย 
  • Keeps lobby area tidy throughout shift and ensures adequate supply of beverages, cups, etc.ย 
  • Complies with facility safety, infection control and security program.
  • Supports facility internal and external customer service standards.
  • Upholds the Organization's ethics and customer service standards.

Education - High School degree or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree preferred

Experience โ€“ 1 year experience answering multi-line phone systems and customer service preferably in a healthcare setting.

Required Licenses - Current CPR upon hire. BLS and Handle with Care certifications a plus.

Additional Requirements - Must provide proof of approved (AHA/ARC) current CPR maintain approved CPR certification prior to hire as well as successful completion of Management of Assaultive Behavior training including restraint and seclusion policies prior to assuming patient care responsibility. Must maintain current CPR and Handle with Care. Violators will be suspended up to termination if not compliant within 1 week of expiration.
