Quality Engineer 

At Vertiv, we are committed to delivering high-quality products and exceptional customer experiences. We are seeking a proactive and analytical Quality Engineer to join our Burnfoot team and play a key role in driving prevention-led quality assurance across our manufacturing operations. 

In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring products, processes, and controls consistently meet quality standards while supporting right-first-time manufacturing execution. You will lead problem-solving activities, strengthen process discipline, reduce defects at source, and drive continuous improvement initiatives aligned with Vertiv Operating System (VOS) principles and ISO 9001:2015 requirements. 

Working closely with Operations, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supplier Quality teams, you will help identify risks, improve process capability, and ensure effective corrective and preventive actions are implemented to protect both the customer and the business. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Own daily process quality assurance activities within the factory, ensuring manufacturing controls, standard work, and quality processes are consistently followed. 
  • Lead root cause investigations and corrective action activities using structured methodologies such as 8D, 5 Why, Ishikawa, and other problem-solving tools. 
  • Conduct layered process audits, first-off inspections, first-article verification activities, and support deviation management processes. 
  • Analyze quality data and performance trends to identify risks, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and support defect prevention strategies. 
  • Partner with Operations, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supplier Quality teams to resolve internal, customer, and supplier-related quality issues. 
  • Support the development and implementation of robust corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to prevent recurrence of quality concerns. 
  • Coach and guide teams on quality standards, escalation processes, defect prevention, and adherence to standard work. 
  • Support new product introduction (NPI) and process changes by verifying readiness of documentation, control plans, and manufacturing processes. 
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001:2015 requirements and support internal and external audit activities as required. 

     

Qualifications & Experience 

The successful candidate will have experience in a manufacturing quality environment and a proven ability to identify and resolve quality issues using structured problem-solving and continuous improvement methodologies. 

 

Preferred Requirements 

  • Degree in Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and relevant quality experience. 
  • Minimum four years' experience in quality assurance, quality engineering, or a related manufacturing environment. 
  • Strong knowledge of quality tools and methodologies including:  
  • 8D 
  • APQP 
  • PPAP 
  • PFMEA 
  • Control Plans 
  • SPC 
  • Root Cause Analysis 
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 quality management systems. 
  • Strong analytical skills with experience interpreting quality metrics and process performance data. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and data analysis tools. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across multiple functions and organizational levels. 
  • Experience supporting continuous improvement initiatives within a manufacturing environment. 
  • Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel when required.

Travel Requirement 

  • Up to 20% travel as required.
