SUMMARY

The Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental (QHSE) Associate is responsible for reviewing and verifying the Safety and Health Programs, Procedures, and Training Pre-qualification requirements on behalf of AVETTA Clients and Supplier Members.

If residing within commutable distance to one of our offices, a hybrid schedule would be required (3 days in office, 2 days work from home).  Candidates within commutable distance are preferred, but those outside of an office area may be considered on a remote basis. 
  
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Conduct Manual Audits to assess a Supplier Safety and Health Programs, Procedures, and Training documentation required based on exposure hazards associated with services performed. The Audits are intended to ensure compliance with applicable legislation (Federal, State, Provincial, etc.) as well as any industry level requirements. In addition, the QHSE Associate will be responsible for the following:

  • Conduct desktop Safety and Health Program/Policies/Procedure Audits or “Manual Audits” on Suppliers in the Avetta Platform.
  • Assist customers with closing gaps or deficiencies because of the audit.
  • Provide recommendations and guidance to assist the Supplier addressing regulatory requirements.
  • Perform customer verifications and Audit closure assistance.
  • Respond promptly to customer inquiries.
  • Record details of inquiries, comments, and complaints within the Contractor Account Notes.
  • Forward customer complaints or concerns to the Audit Manager or other Designated Safety Professional in a timely manner.
  • MUST HAVE RELIABLE TRANSPORTATION.
  • Regular and predictive attendance.
  • Attend training, meetings, or seminars and travel up to 30% of the time.

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Cognitive skills with the Ability to be trained to effectively interpret and make decisions based on regulatory (OSHA, EPA, MSHA, etc.), industry best practices, and/or Operator requirements.
  • An affinity for learning online software systems.
  • Working PC knowledge, windows preferred and related applications.
  • Ability to multitask and manage priorities.
  • Adaptable to workload fluctuations and intensive deadlines.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Bi-lingual proficiency is a plus but is not required.
  • Problem analysis and problem-solving.
  • Ability to read and interpret statistical data, information, and documents.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Self-Motivated and driven to succeed.
  • Ability to communicate and understand in a one-on-one or group situation.
  • Ability to interact with staff members and others encountered in the course of work.
  • Ability to learn and apply new information or skills.
  • Foundational Knowledge of Federal and State Legislation preferred (OSHA, MSHA, DOT, Maritime, Shipyard, etc.); Ability to continuously learn and apply knowledge of Federal and State legislation is required.
  • 1-5 years of relevant work experience in the safety profession OR
  • Internship experience in a Safety, Health and/or Environmental role OR
  • Contractor Prequalification Verification experience are strongly preferred.
  • 2-year or 4-year degree or Certification in Safety from an accredited college or university is a plus.
  • Completion of OSHA 30hr (Construction and/or General).
  • Experience with Environmental, O&G, MSHA, Maritime regulations is a plus.
  • Safety and Health Program development and/or revision is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of the relevant industries we serve is a plus.

METRICS THAT MATTER:

  • QHSE Associate will conduct 50+ Audits per month (Initial review with gaps or to closure); this may increase on demand.
  • Conduct Audits in a quality manner in accordance with Avetta Protocol - 95% +/qtr.
  • Ensure SLA achievement for assigned audits – 95% +/mo.
    • Manual Audits – 10 Business Days from Assignment to Queue; Review Open Requirements on Audits within 3 business days.
    • Vetify Audits – 2 business days to Submit; 1 business day for Open Requirements.
  • 24-hour Response time to Suppliers (email or phone); this Correspondence will be documented in the Case
