About this role

Public and Congressional Affairs Analyst, Junior

The Opportunity:

Provide our Navy client with public affairs or legislative and congressional support throughout the annual Defense Authorization and Appropriations process. Work with Navy clients to develop strategic communications plans and strategies. Provide analysis to support the development and implementation of Navy and Marine Corps strategy and policy. Analyze risk-based strategies for legislative processes and planning. Analyze and track metrics for strategy implementation. Provide analysis to identify, define, and close requirements using the legislative process.

You Have:

  • Experience writing public affairs products, including press releases, social media content, or talking points

  • Experience with regular direct client interactions, including supporting project delivery, delivering presentations, or leading client meetings

  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

  • Knowledge of AP writing style and communication strategies

  • Ability to track and comprehend acquisition and procurement goals as they move through the legislative cycle and plan, organize, and execute tasks with minimal direction

  • Ability to work independently, creatively, and analytically in a problem-solving environment

  • Secret clearance

  • HS diploma or GED

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience with Congressional or legislative affairs, the Congressional Authorization and Appropriations process, and the DoD legislative process, including program objective memorandum (POM) preparation, Budget Estimate Submissions (BES), President’s Budget (PB) Exhibit preparation, and working around senior Congressional staff and DoD or Navy officials

  • Experience with Military staff or Congressional offices

  • Experience working as or directly supporting a Press Secretary, Communications, or social media lead in a Congressional office

  • Experience supporting Pubic Affairs at the Department of Defense or with media and news outlets

  • Experience reviewing and drafting 'Reclamas' or other types of congressional inquiries from Congressional Defense Committee's as part of the annual Authorization and Appropriations process

Clearance:

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; Secret clearance is required.

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $48,000.00 to $98,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees. This posting will close within 90 days from the Posting Date.
