Essential Functions & Responsibilities

Project Manager, Field Services As a Project Manager, Field Services you will be responsible for preparing necessary equipment, labor, regulatory and technical aspects of projects, and for managing projects from start to finish.

 

This role determines the length and cost of the project and visits customer sites as needed to ensure safety and satisfaction for internal and external customers, while supporting other project managers and more junior colleagues.

  • Prioritizes health and safety by adhering to policies, processes, and maintaining safe practices at all times
  • Assesses project needs in terms of equipment and labor to determine project length and costs; maintains responsibility for adherence to timeframes and budget throughout the project
  • Manages and conducts environmental assessments, investigations, and remediation activities for environmental remediation projects; completes projects by organizing and controlling project elements
  • Assess new projects, some of which are technically complex, and develops written proposals for the project and assess associated costs and establishes price for the work needed
  • Develops project objectives through proposal preparation and planning, coordinating with leadership (including decontamination of equipment, spill remediation, tank cleaning, water blasting, and demolition activities)
  • Determines project responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements; assigns personnel to respective phases/elements and reviews bids from contractors to determine waste disposal or destruction options
  • Plans for initiation of project by scheduling resources, submitting required paperwork, negotiating with regulatory agency personnel and prepares written plans and compliance documents
  • Completes site visits during project to monitor and keep client updated on progress; recognizes and negotiates changes in original project plan and adjusts costs accordingly while maintaining favorable and productive client relationships throughout project
  • Manages Emergency Response projects, operations, activities and personnel in the field; may supervise Emergency Response crew
  • Supervises personnel involved in field operations; plans work to ensure safe conditions and instructs on proper methods and procedures
  • Provides field service technical support to all field service locations and staff as requested
  • Participates in hiring, performance evaluation, promotion and disciplinary process decisions
  • Completes monthly billing approval and various administrative tasks; leads on all credit and collection items or issues as it relates to role’s projects
  • Maintains the ability to travel to customer sites and work in outdoor weather conditions as needed; maintains ability to be on-call
  • May perform field activities such as sample collecting if necessary
  • Takes on additional duties as assigned to support the team and organization

Education

- Bachelor’s degree (required); technical field i.e. chemistry, engineering, environmental science (preferred) - CHMM certification (preferred)

Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in hazardous waste management or environmental services i.e. remediation, emergency response, etc. (required) -OR-
  • In lieu of degree, 7+ years of experience in hazardous waste management or environmental services i.e. remediation, emergency response, etc. (required)
