What You’ll Do

  • Perform solar resource and energy yield assessments for utility-scale and distributed PV projects.

  • Conduct pre-construction and operational energy yield analyses, including:

    • Compilation, validation, and analysis of meteorological, satellite-derived, and operational datasets.

    • Solar resource assessments, including development of Typical Meteorological Year (TMY) datasets from long-term meteorological and satellite-derived datasets.

    • Measure-Correlate-Predict (MCP) analyses and long-term resource adjustments.

    • Evaluation of project risks, constraints, and performance drivers.

    • Estimation of plant losses,

    • Uncertainty analyses,

    • Development of bankable energy yield estimates using PVsyst and other industry-standard tools.

    • Operational performance assessments and regression-based energy analyses.

  • Take ownership of portions of the company’s solar resource and energy yield assessment methodologies and contribute to their ongoing development and improvement.

  • Present and explain energy assessment methodologies, assumptions, results, and uncertainties to clients and investors.

  • Manage and lead client engagements, including technical execution and client communications.

  • Perform technical reviews and quality control of analyses and reports to ensure compliance with company standards and industry best practices.

  • Work closely with colleagues across due diligence, engineering, and project development teams to deliver high-quality work products.

  • Support business development through proposal writing, client meetings, conference participation, and technical presentations.

  • Stay current with industry developments and emerging practices related to solar resource assessment and energy yield analysis.

Who You Are

  • 5+ years of professional experience in solar resource assessment, energy yield assessment, performance engineering, project development, technical advisory, or a related field

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Atmospheric Science, Physics, Meteorology, Applied Mathematics, Renewable Energy, or a related technical discipline

  • Strong understanding of solar resource assessment methodologies and solar energy production estimation for photovoltaic projects

  • Experience using PVsyst and other industry-standard solar modeling tools

  • Experience performing MCP analyses, long-term resource assessments, and statistical evaluation of meteorological datasets

  • Experience using solar resource datasets and platforms such as Solargis, SolarAnywhere, Meteonorm, NSRDB, MERRA-2, ERA5, or similar

  • Strong understanding of plant losses, uncertainty analysis, degradation assumptions, and operational performance drivers

  • Experience preparing technical reports and presenting technical findings to clients and stakeholders

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively in a collaborative team environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting project finance, lender’s technical advisory, independent engineering, mergers and acquisitions, or due diligence engagements

  • Experience evaluating operational solar projects and performing performance diagnostics and benchmarking analyses

  • Experience with GIS and engineering software packages such as ArcGIS, QGIS, AutoCAD, or similar tools

  • Experience with programming, automation, or data analysis using Python, R, MATLAB, VBA, SQL, or similar languages

  • Experience developing analytical tools, methodologies, or quality assurance processes

  • Master’s degree in a relevant technical discipline

How You’ll Be Compensated

The starting base salary for this role is between $135,000 and $150,000 with equity included as part of total compensation. Your actual offer may vary based on factors such as location, experience, and internal benchmarks.
